Only Apple can charge a premium and a half for outdated hardware that’s hard to repair and intentionally limited in terms of peripheral compatibility, just because it looks pretty… But its processing power is undoubtedly great.

They can get rid of the old M1 MacBook Air chassis by continuing to sell the M1 MacBook Air. If the M2 MacBook Air was the same price as the M1 MacBook Pro, they wouldn’t be able to get rid of the old MacBook Pro chassis. So toss the M2 in it to get rid of it.

Wait, the GPU draws 4W more power than M1 and gets 40% more performance?
That sounds like linear scaling with power and the M2 doesn’t really have a (mid-)generational improvement or architectural improvement. It’s of course fine, it’s just that M2 is a normal upgrade, not a huge one, like Intel’s old tick-tock toothpaste

As a lifelong (diehard) Windows user who switched to Mac two years ago for work, I can only concur with what is said in the video – it just works. It really is as simple as that, and is why I have grown so fond of macOS. I would not imagine going back.

It’s hard to justify this MacBook especially considering how anti-competitive Apple is. If you’re going to be that anti-competitive, at least provide some really refreshing and new updates to your hardware.

I think it’s a testament as to how much Apple nailed it with their design. Sure… it looks a bit dated. But not that much, for a 6 year old design which everyone else has been trying to replicate for year but without ever getting there. It is still a gorgeous machine and boy does it feel well built. That being said, it’s time to move on and that’s why I cannot wait to see the new Macbook Air.
