I’m convinced they only kept this design around to make the new macbook air seem like a better value. There is absolutely no reason to buy this.

It’s really hard to imagine there’s a large audience for this. It sits so awkwardly between the M2 Air and the 14/16 Pros. Because Apple are keeping the M1 Air at $999, it pushes the M2 Air towards the price of the M2 Pro, a device which has only been updated with a new chip and nothing else. For professionals, the 14/16 Pros are more than suitable, and everyone else will be covered by the M2 Air or its predecessor. What’s “Pro” about this 13-inch model anymore? It should be replaced with a larger Air so that there would be two sizes of Air (say 13 and 15) and the current two sizes of the Pro.

What about the speakers ? Everyone is comparing the M2 Air to Mac Pro, but I guess the audio from M2 Air won’t be that good as Mac Pro

Very interesting take and you have a point. I just wish it was cheaper! But now that Apple is making a lot of grounds into Enterprise, this is the perfect Enterprise device if they are giving you a steep discount.

Edit: now only if their Enterprise management could improve. Apple is such a pain in the butt to manage from an Enterprise perspective.

I have also on old 2017 MBP Intel 13” and a new 2021 MBP M1 Pro 14” at home. Frankly, from design perspective I like the 2017 more.

“Can you imagine Dell selling a 6 year old XPS product with just a chip drop?” I daily drive an XPS 13 9305, and this laptop features a 6 year old body from the 2015 XPS 13 into a 2021 XPS product with the latest and greatest (at its time) 11th gen intel processers. Great little machine that Dell made to get rid of their old leftover XPS shells and put in up to date specs in it. You can find these things at ridiculously low prices that can go even lower than $500 for a solid, well built laptop that can last.

The design is okay. More worrying is how the apple controlled software experience evolves over time, with precise correlation with when apple think you should be upgrading (end support). If only it was as simple as great devices we could all enjoy. There’s a catch.

your explanation is really bad, how much apple pay you? 😀 you want to say that biggest company in the world couldn’t put a fan in new mac? 😀 I bet there is shortage of hardware, so apple just thought hell why not to just sell new chip in old mac, we will pay some influencers to say that is awesome 😀

New design for new design is the low hanging fruit for tech tubers to talk about. What I mean is that its very surface level.

– Apple gives a complete top to bottom solution will it scratch every itch NO but no product does.

– Apple’s products have focus and a well thought out approach. Is Apple always right no one is but when they hit home-runs they hit them out the park.

– Apples innovation into the chip manufacturing world to take on the likes of Intel , AMD and Nvidia who are leaders and to develop what they did is something to marvel at.

– Often to many times the reviews and thoughts on Apple are just plain from a perspective that to me is very swallow.

– Love or Hate Apple one thing you must do is respect there approach because its industry leading.
