Hopefully the next M3 chip will reduce energy consumption and reduce heat due to a smaller nm size 😎
They should’ve just put USB-A on it.
Yoooo, full set of Phaidon Design Classics! Neat!
2022, and a base Macbook Pro still comes gimped with just 8GB or RAM, for 1300 USD Apple cannot just give you 16GB… for a “PRO” model.
You are expected to cough up another 200 USD to get the missing 8GB that should had been included in that package.
Before someone comes up stating the Apple fairy dust makes this work, I’m sorry to be that guy but I have an M1 8GB MacMini and it is perceptible sluggish when doing anything not basic web browsing so I’m not sure what Dave is smoking here stating this is a good experience, perhaps he got more RAM in his model so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
“Not because of the marketing” Dave says but it is precisely because of the marketing they are still pulling this anti-consumer shenanigans in 2022.
M2 + 14inch Design and features including miniled with slightly lower spec than 14 in MBP = perfect midlevel Macbook pro for most people.
They can easily market at 1500$ for base model with 256gb , with upgrade tending towards price of 14 inch MBP.
Wouldn’t more volume of same chassis and parts increase their margins for both products and give customers exactly what they want.
does this laptop have 2 fans? or just 1? and should you be able to play games like counter strike on it?
thanks
So well articulated!
Large businesses prefer this model for their employees and I think that is the market apple is targeting
it seems like the M2 has better efficiency on the low end, despite greater power draw over M1. M2 will have better peak performance than M1 but uses more power in order to achieve it, however better efficiency optimization on the low end means greater light-task battery life.
pls do aquascape video
Why just a “chip drop” in an “older” chassis…? I suspect that Apple had a little different direction for the M1 MBP but the pandemic got in the way…. Zillions of chassis were sitting in Chinese warehouses and could be re-purposed with little re-tooling of the MoBo, batteries etc…. The M2 MBP will be a very short-lived product.
that last 1 min was so>>>>
Got 90% of the way into this video and Dave is still focusing on how old the design is, but he defends Dell for removing the headphone jack from the new XPS Plus which is a viable feature for audio recording. SMH. Dave you never fail at finding nonsensical ways to trash Apple. Just stop.
oh, it’s the new macbook pro SE
The 2015 xps design is still used in the newer laptops, just a cheaper varient
Just bought macbook pro 14. I just hope I don’t regret once m2 macbook air comes out!
Well sad Dave, dated hardware…
In response to the XPS comment… I actually think the answer would probably be yes!
Take a look at the XPS 13 9350/9360 – if they were to drop in a 12th gen U series or an AMD 6000U series into that chassis and update USB and TB support to the latest generation I believe it would still sell extremely well. I held on to mine until last year since it was the last XPS 13 to have full size USB support. 12 hours of useful lightweight battery life was nothing to scoff at either.
I just remember MaxTech putting thermal pads on the M1 MBA and had a better performance than the M1 13″ MBP. I’d do the same
