Not to defend them or anything but if you consider inflation from 2020 to 2022 keeping the price at 1000 is already a price decrease.
Why don’t you compare them not plugged in? Looks biased to me.
I think we should also consider the fact that all windows laptops have to be in charge in order to gain those benchmark results
excellent comparison and video. Under 10 minutes, covered multiple laptops, not overly “techie”, enough information for a general user to start making decisions
Any thoughts on Asus vivobook s15 oled ?
i never knew that inside info before, so last year is the only year where no company want their product/s to be compared with m1 in dave’s Video
Sooo buy m1 air till it goes out of fashion
I’m not sure how the m2 MBA’s 1.24kg weight translates to super light 🤷🏽♂️
Perfect video at the perfect time as Im considering the best ultrabook for my use case! Thanks for the awesome vids as always!
Please add ports scenario also in such comparison. It makes significant difference.
Great video. I really like how you put things into perspective. It’s Apple prices that are at the root of so much vitriol. “If only Apple products were cheaper”, is not a reason to trash their devices. If you can comfortably afford Apple devices, it will most likely be the best in class overall, if not, there are cheaper devices that do not tick all the boxes an Apple device does, but they are still nice machines.
crazy how Ryzen 6th gen is so close to M2 in power and battery life .Amazing job Ryzen
This title is sad for Windows users…
The Asus one seems the best of the bunch. OLED always above IPS, it’s very close on the battery life and GPU is comparable.
At that point it really depends whether you want macOS or Windows.
I think 2021 reasoning was rather it was a new chip they couldnt know ahead how to compare/compete with and that is why companies skipped.
Students like me would be very happy if all of these were 1000 dollars
Hey Dave
I am a grad student majoring in AI and am planning to buy a MacBook. My choices are M2 MacBook Air and the 14” MacBook Pro. Mainly going to use it for coding, some designing and to browse and watch content. Given that the M2 price rises significantly when I increase the specs on it am confused between the two. Any suggestions?
There are four major problems with the M2 Macbook Air. The first is that while it’s better than the M1 Macbook Air, it’s not $300 better; you can find a new $900 base model M1 Macbook Air easily, and the M2 Macbook Air costs even more if you want a good SSD. The second is that the SSD (and also RAM, but that’s more normal) cannot be upgraded later on, which is bad for the lifespan of the device. The third is that there is a very limited selection of ports, which may be an issue since so many things use USB-A. The last problem is that you are limited to using Mac OS, which is definitely not for everyone, and falls behind Windows and Linux in many categories. It’s such a shame that Apple keeps getting in their own way when it comes to making a really good laptop.
This year ASUS has nailed it with introducing oled displays to all their laptop categories. It’s a huge consideration guys. The quality difference between oled and lcd displays is substantial. I’d say apple has shot in it’s foot with the m2 MacBook air pricing but we know people will buy apple no matter what. so whatever.
Bought the MBA(M1) for 60000₹($750) after turning in my 2013 laptop. The MBA(M2) is selling for 120000₹($1500). Glad i bought mine and didnt wait around for m2.
