Just a FYI, the M1 MBA is consistently $850 at Costco for the base config
Nice idea
What was that movie dragon scene from?
$999 would have been a killer price for this machine. I won’t recommend this laptop to anyone.
256 gb in a laptop 💩💩🤡🤣
7:26 “It’s like the Gigachad MacBook”
Love you Dave
Perhaps you could consider some linux-systems? Like Tuxedo, slimbook or system76? They might not be the biggest companies, but they often offer a lot more ram and configurability than Windows or MacOS systems. Further they do have profound quality of not running an OS from a big-tech non-privacy-respecting company like Microsoft, Apple or Google.
Hey, what about the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360, or even just the Pro model…😭
I have a budget of 600$. I need a portable and reliable device. A good batery life and a good screen are what I am looking for. Basically, the device is for media consumption and some light task like word, excel, internet browsing. What is your recomendation Dave?
It’s crazy that companies are so hype removing the bezel on phones even though it actually might make more sense in laptops. On phones, you’re just removing the places where you can hold them and notches, punch hole and rounded corners are stupid 😀
I want your t shirt
Reply if you also think the asus zenbook S13 is underrated in the community
amd stuff is really close
give the acer swift x a chance dave (have been saying this for an year now lol). It is a pretty even competitor with the m1 air. its just too much under shadowed idk why. it costs $999, has a Ryzen 7 5800U, RTX 3050 (40W), 16GB LPDDR4X 4246MHz, 512GB SSD, a brilliant 1080p display (100%srgb, 80% adobe and p3), a premium feeling magnesium-alloy chassis, a very good keyboard, an average trackpad.
its value for money factor is a behemoth in my opinion but sadly it isnt advertised so well by reviewers. it was launched in may 2021. I have it and have compared it to my friend’s mba and to be honest, even its speakers arent too much behind. in loudness theyre on par if not louder than the m1 mba but the mba wins in sound quality and bass.
I don’t like Apple the company, their products, or their computer or phone OS’s. Apple certainly makes quality hardware, but good God people, it’s not like they are the only company that can design a SOC and farm out the manufacturing to someone else.
Apple crushing all buggy Windows in performance. Gonna get one this weekend for ultra gaming.
suggestion for your charts, please add “higher is better, lower is better”
I have been using SSDs since 2011, started with crucial 256gb which died month 35. After that I used 256gb evo 840 died in 24 month, then 256 gb 950 pro died in 5 years. Now using 512gb KC2500 + 1tb SN550 and I am not sure how long those will last. And my devices has ram of: 12gb in 2011-2015, 16gb 2016-2021, 32gb 2021-now. So I always avoid using ssd as swap.
Now, considering this history, I can’t buy a macbook with soldered 8gb ram and heavily rely on very slow (for NVMe market), soldered ssd.
I’ll always have anxiety of unexchangeable SSD and so the macbook dying on me.
Therefore base price is for me: base macbook air + 16gb ram + 512gb = $1600 – this price looks no to me for a heavily overheating device.
Yeah but do my apps work in the M2 Mac.
Best laptop review this year….so far.
Nice job Dave👏 👍
