The only thing that I dont like about AMD systems is the lack of thunderbolt. I think if an AMD laptop had that feature, it would easily be the macbook of windows. Great battery life, grest performance, efficient and affordable.

Hi Dave, just a thought
In this budget can anyone consider a Thinkpad provided its robust industrial design, one of the best keyboard on a laptop I’ve used and screen which is not great like other devices but definitely one of the good one and a decent battery life!
Would love to know your thoughts. I wanted to have M2 but then dropped the idea considering it’s price point!!
One comparison video between Thinkpad & M2 would be great

Apple WILL drop the price to $999 in a year/more
People forget that the retina MacBook also started at $1200 and they kept the old air around for another year just so apple could get rid of inventory/upgrade people to the more expensive version.

Great to see the competition. The M1 Air hit every mark except webcam. The rest of the laptop lineup the prices get uncompetitive quickly with the Apple huge margins on RAM and SSD. But with supply constraints, it might not matter.

the m1 air is still the best laptop apple has ever made. the m2 doesnt give you enough cool new stuff to justify the $200 price bump.

@Dave2D M1 Macbook Air with the student discount is the actual M2 Macbook Air Killer and still, a better option than most of the devices you mentioned as the M1 Macbook Air with the student discount is available at $899 or $850 if one gets lucky at back to school sale. The M2 Macbook Air base model is crippled and if one wants a better configuration the price bumps up to $1600 which makes the MacBook Pro 14-inch look a more appealing option.

Great stuff as always, Dave. Did you consider the new Lenovo Yoga 9i 14″ laptop? It’s really stellar, including outstanding sound. Plus it’s a touch machine with 2-in-1 capabilities that the Air doesn’t offer. List price isn’t cheap, but (unlike Apple) Lenovo machines go on sale all the time. Plus, the base SSD performs well! 🙂

If only apple prices just a tad bit sensibly i would assume they would have tons more sales.. but i get it they still make money because they are the premium pricing with fewer sales.. 🤷‍♂️

The MBA M2 really has only one single problem and that’s that it started at a price thats $200 to high. It just doesn’t work out. It has a super weird place in the Macbook lineup and so it is on the entire market… it really should’ve been $999 and the M1 should have dropped to $899 or $850.

Apple has actually increased the price of M1 Air in India

However you can buy it through a lot of stores at the old price.
