If you upgrade it to 16GB of RAM, and maybe 512GB of storage, you get a VERY nice machine. But, unfortunately not at a very nice price.
Great video, thank you! Unfortunately, this points to the main issue about Apple’s product line and what customers really want: a touchscreen device (call it Mac or iPad) running MacOS! Ditch the cumbersome iOS with its stupid multitasking that nobody uses and no windows. Even iOS 16 (that only runs with all features on M1 or M2 iPad – thank you, Apple for screwing your loyal customers) does not cut it, so we all need to carry an iPad + a Mac or PC to do “real” work. The iPad (as a device) still has plenty of applications even when running MacOS!
That sweater is everything. Also yay midnight air m2 user soon from the 2018 mpb with Touch Bar, waiting patiently for it to arrive.
What will happen if Apple stop optimizing softwares in subsequent upgrades…
This product is way too expensive for what it offers, its a difference of 500$ from the air m1 when launched (at least where i live)
excellent explanation i have decided to get the M2 for what I need reading, nnetflix sometimes, e bay, surfing, thats it no gaming..you are great..thanks for the best review on M2 I have read yet your smart & entertaining sure everyone watches the whole video keep up the good work
I found a MBA M1 that is upgraded 16 gb and 512 ssd cheaper than the MBA M2 8gb and 512 . Almost hundred dollars cheaper . Which one would you go after ?
Great view and I’m still not done ✔️ lol
In day to day use there is no noticeable difference between the M2 Air and the M1 Air. Even with an 18% performance gain compared to M1, the M2 isn’t going to make your web browsing faster, or doing things in the Finder quicker. The biggest problem I have with the M2 SOC is Apple had to increase the clock speed which also means they had to increase the power going into the chip to make it go faster, and the result is that when you put the SOC under heavy load it will run considerably hotter than the M1. The biggest problem with the M2 Air is the M1 Air still exists and is a much better value for the money. Slow SSD speed aside, 256 GB in 2022 is embarrassing. So now you’re going to have to pay another $200 on top of the $1,199 base price to get respectable storage. Now we’re talking $1,400 to have decent entry-level performance. I wanted to love the M2 Air, but my M1 is a beast and handles everything I throw at it without the chip reaching temperatures that can boil water. The M2 Air has me disappointed.
My brother sent me this review because he thought it was really good… And I agree!
I am looking forward to getting the new MacBook Pro. I def want to keep my touch bar from my 2019 😅. Glad I watched this to help me decide if I was making the right decision or not. 😎
SUPER HELPFUL! Was going to get the Air, but helped me decide I’d like a base model MBP instead. EXCELLENT video
if this helps anyone i just dropped my old heavy ipad on top of it and its fine so 😔
that’s a good apple !!! I like he still uses that ahah ok I’m drunk
working my pro photo business with a 2015 MacBook Pro 13” 256+8gb and still working fine but getting slower with the most recente raw files from the latest cameras. This time I’m not thinking with going pro and this Air is really making me think on it.
I’m planning to purchase a Macbook Air (M2 – 256 GB), and I’m not sure whether I should upgrade the SoC or memory (for future-proofing) — I can only afford 1 and IDK which is more important. It’ll be for the usual day-to-day stuff: sheets, browsing, movies, and The Sims 4 lol. No video editing, coding, or music production.
This is the 1st laptop I’ll purchase for myself and I’ve never had any experience with Macs either, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nice review! Thanks. Also, it sounds like your audio made an improvement lately. No more robotic boxy noise gate from what I could tell this time. Nice. Would be cool to see a studio tour one day. Look forward to all the CES coverage coming.
Thank You so much for a very practical review Brian!
You included the video editing aspect and did a deep test and shared the results that helped me a lot.
Hey, can i use it for coding for long hrs and app developing on m2 air..
