the Air M2 is a joke even for someone who is a apple fan. For that price, just get the Pro for extra couple hundred dollars.

M1 is your best value laptop and AMAZING quality. I have the M1 air and a heavy user.

Great review. I’m probably what’s considered an edge case user but I got the M2 Macbook pro for a couple of three reasons. 1. I have a bad habit of tapping my fingers on my laptop and the airs are painted rather than the colour being embedded in the metal of the case. I don’t want it to look rubbish after a while. 2. I like the touch bar – it’s annoying in some cases but really useful for the audio production tool I use (Logic Pro X) when I’m not connected to a big screen and 3. The 14″ wouldn’t last as long when running Logic Pro x on battery and I do that a lot. It was a bit ridiculous how expensive it was when I upgraded it to 1tb and 24gb ram.

Really excellent review. I think most casual users that want a Mac get caught up and confused by reviews that talk about video editing and high end work loads, Yada, yada, yada. Your review is definitely more appropriate for casual every day use. Nice job and appreciate you taking the time to go over everything. 😃

Also the 512 version has the extra GPU cores included I believe, so you are paying for the storage but get the extra cores too even if you don’t need them

I almost bought this laptop to replace my old Asus. Then I discovered that M chips suck at virtualization (Docker). I would also miss WSL2, which make Windows a better OS for (web) development. So I’ll probably go with Dell XPS …

I have the unpopular 13 inch m2 MacBook Pro …. Let me say the bigger battery, better stock gpu, and the active cooling make it worth it for me for sure. The only thing I lose out on is the nicer screen but I actually don’t really like the cutout designs on a laptop personally

Good review, but a tip: you can’t say it sounds better than Windows devices unless you mean it sounds better than all 50+ Windows devices out there. It just makes the review seem biased against Windows based products.

Great review!
One of the deal breakers for me was the fact the it only supports one external monitor. I have an UWHD (3840×1200) at home, but to achieve the same kind of real-estate elsewhere (e.g. office), I’d need two external monitors. So I got the 14″ MBP. A shame as I’d loved to have the smaller device plus the midnight blue…

The speaker “grills” are mostly esthetic. The MacBook Pro speakers fire downwards through the air vent intakes on the bottom sides
