Currently, the MacBook pro 14 is at $1600. Would you recommend the pro over the air having the same memory and SSD?

I chose a 14″ Macbook Pro base model instead of the M2 Air to have a better screen and more computing power in the long run. I’m surprised on how fast the battery drains even with Low Power Mode enabled in the system settings. I didn’t know the screen was not brighter except for things I don’t need for work. And I probably really won’t need the computing power. The 14″ M1 pro is an amazing machine, great to use, but I would have chosen differently with your video. Thanks for comparing so carefully!

At 1050 right now from Best Buy and extended returns, most people should tee out base m2 before jumping to M1 Pro or upgrade m2. You’ll realize most tasks can be done on it and if you needed a pro you would already know you needed one.

Not been a mac user for sometime but I wanted a backpack laptop that was super light and needed good battery life

So I picked up the bottom of the range one

And it’s perfect for this use case!

Many power users will actually like this as a secondary throw in bag travel device

I have the M1 16 best laptop ever. I dont understand folks who say its too big, I find it just perfect and the screen is top notch!

Thanks Ella, great review. Just a note though, here in Australia atm the M2 MBP 512Gb is A$150.00 cheaper than the M2 MBA 256Gb and A$600.00 cheaper than 14″ M1 MBP. As a pensioner this makes a big difference. Also, coming from an iOS touchscreen iPad Pro background, the semi-programmable Touchbar is very attractive and should receive more attention IMHO. Thanks for at least giving the M2 MBP a mention though, most don’t. Cheers.

I ordered the midnight blue too. But the new aluminum body has some painting issues. in some areas it is strangely lighter, as if there were scratches. some big ones and some small ones. when my hands are greasy, these stains appear. If you polish the device with a microfiber cloth, these spots will disappear for a while. that’s why i applied for a replacement, i have several spots on the new macbook, even the apple logo has blisters. the touchpad is most affected. I want to know if someone else faced with the same issue?
