Thanks. Is this Macbook Air good for watching videos? You say it isnt good for video rendering so I’m guessing it isnt. I’m needing to upgrade from my old 2011 macbook pro and thought this Air looked pretty good. But I do watch videos on it. I”d really appreciate some feedback on this question.

Hello, Ella! Great review and apparently the only one that says M2 Air is better than the M1 Pro 14″. As an incoming law student who’s always in zoom meetings, juggling org duties, & has her laptop on for the entire day, would you recomment the M2 Air for me or the M1 pro? Most of my work goes around google, editing presentations, creating papers online, occasional youtube, and lots of downloaded pdfs. I hate when the laptop heats & lags overtime + runs out of battery real quick since I bring my laptop to school and use it straight for hours. Some say the M1 pro has better heat control & battery life than the M2 Air, but on the kind of tasks I do, is it still worth the upgrade?

I also come from a 14″ laptop and I wonder if the 13″ would be enough for me since I read and edit quite a lot of papers. Hope you read this, thanks a lot!

Hoping apple brings out a 15” version of this. The smaller screen size is the only issue for me at the moment.

I bought this MacBook even though I am planning to use it for video editing. I don’t plan to render 4K videos but rather 1080p cinematic mode videos shot on an iPhone, for my pet project of a food blog. I upgraded both the RAM and the SSD (still not sure upgrading the SSD was worth it, but oh well), so I’m hoping it’ll be good for my beginner-level video editing tasks. The new design and lightness of it strongly pushed me to buy it instead of opting for a 14 inch MacBook Pro, since I will still be using it for daily light tasks like watching videos or browsing the web, and I got my hands on the base model and fell in love with it 🙂 Let’s hope it’s worth what I paid!

This computer absolutely sucks just like the m1 did I’m not sure what going on with these reviewers or how they are testing these device but on multiple machines both m1 and m2 I get the beach ball death and freezes and glitches while doing bare bones basic tasks. But all I hear is how great the performance is I’m sorry but I don’t see it.

This is genuinely one of the best laptop reviews I’ve seen. Really balanced perspective, straight to the point and you cover and compare exactly what features you’d want/need out of a laptop.

I had the choice between three MacBooks from my work (I’ve never used a MacBook before). This really helped me in deciding what to get! Thank you! Earned a sub.

The problem with this thing is the price, the air was meant to the be everyman/student device. Now its firmly in luxury tier pricing, for reference the M1 air no student discount is $1500AUD, the M2 air is $1900, the M2 in the old 13″ pro chassis is $2000. It does not make sense at all. If you need 24gb of ram the M2 air is $3000, the 14″ MB Pro with 32gb is $3600 but a far superior machine in all aspects. The base M2 is not really for power users and its not for anyone looking for value. Apple just don’t want to kill off their crappy 13″ pro with touchbar for some reason.

Upgrades to the screen and chassis are not things that warrant huge price jumps, laptop manufacturers have access to different newer components every year at the same prices to maintain margin. Some outliers might be OLED panels but they become commodity very fast as factories pump out volume recoup their tooling investments. Apple not only does the same thing, they have way better bargaining terms for bulk ordering their components. Even the M2 chip is the same price as the M1 for Apple to manufacture. Apple don’t release upgrades much anymore, they release sidegrade products that withhold enough to encourage upselling.

By far the most sensical review I’ve seen of the M2 air yet. Every other video is dudes shitting on it for not being better than a $2000 mac lol it’s literally a perfect laptop for 95% of people

I was reluctant on buying my first MacBook after being a windows fanboy my whole life. After buying the mba midnight m2, I gotta say my jaw dropped with how many tabs I had opened and studying for 5 hours and still had 86% battery left. My old surface pro 7 would already be at red bar battery by 4 hours in.

Hi , is it worth it to buy m1 macbook air , how many years would it last me? In my country m2 macbook air is way more expensive than m1 . I would use my laptop for studying, typing , watching videos , and some occasional games like sims or something like that

I have the M1 Macbook Pro 2121 and I absolutly hate it. I do a lot of Zoom presentations and I run chrome with up to 15+ tabs open with multiple excell pages along with multiple adobe Acrobat pages and the 8Gig Macbook is pathetically slow. Do you think I am running out of ram or just expecting too much from the machine? I am thinking of swapping to the 14 inch Macbook pro…
