hi! will you be reviewing the new galaxy flip 4?
Seriously? This is by far the most thorough and best review I’ve seen of anything. Great job! 🙌✨
There are definitely things wrong with your galaxy book2 pro. My original book doesn’t even get hot nor do I hear the fan.
Major M2 drawback: No VirtualBox, No VMWare – so basically no option for virtualization. And even with parallels, no support for x86/x64 Windows.
This could be the best review that I’ve seen on the M2 MacBook Air. It covers all the key areas of a new computer purchase in a clear and concise manner, with a nice sprinkling of opinions/recommendations interspersed throughout. There’s so much FUD being spread about the slower base model SSD, particularly from some other YouTubers and publications who seem to be forgetting (or not caring) who this device is really designed for. After watching this video, I feel reassured with choosing the base model and that my fairly light needs won’t be affected. Thank you 🙏
Can you have one external screen in addition to the built in, then pop up another screen on a nearby Apple TV?
what about the ssd? difference?
You’ve done the best comparison I’ve seen since the launch. Appreciate all your efforts.
Thanks for the review! I have an aging 15″ MBP 2015 and have been considering making the jump to Apple silicon for a little while now. I have a windows PC that I need to use for work so it would primarily for personal use. I do a lot of photo editing with Lightroom + Topaz Labs denoise/sharpen AI, and occassionally graphic design with Illustrator/inkscape. This is all quite slow on my 2015 MBP!
I think I will feel a significant performance boost with any upgrade – and while it sounds like the M2 Air would be powerful enough for my my typical use I’d like to future-proof somewhat with 16GB ram and 512 GB storage… which brings me within reach of 14″ M1 Pro base model territory so I’m a bit hesitant.
I think I prefer the M2 Air form factor, but would miss an integrated SD card slot (and HDMI, though not as important)… Am I being silly? The price gap is still a few hundred dollars. Is it also worth waiting for 14″ M2 Pro? I’m not in a RUSH to buy and recognize there will always be something better around the corner… any advice??
Thanks!
While I do agree that the issues surrounding the speed of the SSD are being slightly overblown for the short term, the longevity of particularly the base models of this machine come into question. Since SSDs have limited program/erase cycles, having only 8GB of RAM and a single SSD module on the board may end up causing premature failure on these for all but the most casual users. Overall, your review is very well balanced and comes from a broader perspective, but I’d be worried about the storage failing on these more than the M1 models, which still include two modules, even in the base 256GB configurations.
many hours of daily procrastination
this review was very oddly biased towards the macbook air and primarily focused on the whole single core loading faster. that’s only because the m2 chip can load at 3.49ghz vs the 3.2ghz in the m1pro, but you’ll quickly notice that extra speed starts to slow down after using the computer for an hour or two. So realistically is the air faster at these single core activities, yes if you just turned on your computer and started opening your first few websites. Otherwise, if you did that same test maybe an hour after using the two computers, then the MacBook pro would be faster at executing your google maps page or whatever other website you’re opening up.
that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great computer, I just feel like the m1pro has much more to offer other than to people who only render stuff. One of those people being those who like to keep their computers for long term will definitely notice a huge edge with the MacBook pro
If my main concern is not rendering videos, but recording & mixing & rendering music on Logic/Protools, would you think the Air could handle it?
I just wish Macbook air was available in a slightly bigger display, like just an inch extra, 13.6 inch is too small for developers, that’s the only reason for which I may have to go for Macbook Pro. But I am also a big fan of silent / heat-free laptops, am worried about fan noice and heating on Macbook Pro.
why do you have m2 mba using chrome and safari but the other two devices are only on chrome. making it look like the m2 mba is so much better, while it did have a higher score your display of the scores is misleading especially putting the safari results right next to the other devices chrome results. just saying for the future you should be even. if its chrome then its chrome all around and safari all around etc. also your speed test on google maps. you might want to edit it cos you started the m2 mba slightly ahead. you can slow it down and check for yourself. hope I’ve helped. great video by the way. really appreciate the insight into all these products.
Great video editing..me subscribed
Great review. So wise ❤
Why would anyone buy an M2 Macbook Pro??? It’s a slower chip with less cores. Waste of money. I’m interested to see what the M2 Pro looks like in late 2022 or 2023.
at 10:11 she’s talking about me 🤨
i like how thorough this video is and Ella explains it to me really well even though im kind of dumb i still understand what she’s saying
