I’ve used the M1 Pro 14″ for a couple of months and I’ve got the M2 air 8G model a week ago. I do quite heavy workloads with multiple programming windows with development servers running as well as different browsers for web testing open and design software (figma or Adobe XD) which consumes a lot of RAM. It overheats a lot and the RAM is gone very fast, understandably so.
What struck me is to what extent MacOS is slowed down by this. Music I’m listening to in the background starts breaking out and skipping. Simple actions like switching windows take a couple seconds. Even the native overlays when changing volume or brightness take around 5 seconds to show up. So seems like the OS can’t manage these loads at all.
I think in the end I’m going to settle for the MBP 14″… For context I’m using both Windows/Android and Mac/iOS machines
I kinda messed up and added the 10 core gpu upgrade. Wish I watched this first…
Hey new sub here! Been looking around at different Mac review content creators recently. I truly appreciate your style here in measuring the relative impact of different scenarios. Very thorough comparison and quite clearly presented. Appreciate the summaries as well throughout.
Can’t afford lol
i can’t believe how useful was this video, thank you!
that is most things most people do ? how does she know! does she live at people’s homes?
This M2 MBA base model is fantastic. The Midnight color is 🔥
Remember, the M2 MBA base model is ideal for the casual user. There are no power users who would even consider working with an air.
Great job 👏🏽
So, for Lightroom use, mostly, some photoshop and podcast editing, would this be a better choice than an iPad Pro for example?
Really honest and helpful review. unless you are working with large video files, the m2 is the best laptop there is right now. thanks for this review, more like this please.
So this laptop would be perfect for my CS courses?
is this good for blender?
excellent video
I was about to go for it but dent for the 14 MBP and I’m do happy about my decision.
This is a seriously indepth and honest review.
Yours is the best review of the M2 MacBook Air I’ve seen. I sold my 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro and bought a base model M2 MacBook Air midnight. I’ve used Apple and Windows laptops for 25 years (I started with a PowerBook 145), and the M2 Air is by far the best laptop I’ve ever owned. My main is a 27-inch 5K iMac, and the Air is an auxiliary, mobile machine. I rarely used the MacBook Pro, but now I look for reasons to use my Air, even when it’s on my desk next to my iMac. It’s lightweight, thin, beautiful, and so comfortable to use. And I really don’t understand the uproar from everyone about fingerprints. I never wipe mine down. I’m looking at it right now and it looks great. Once in a great while, I might notice a smudge. I rub it with my finger and it’s gone.
I have not seen any other review video so detailed and nicely explained. Great effort and gone beyond PRO level. I have a question about Macbook M2 and hope you can reply. I am willing to buy this laptop and will be using it for some work related and personal use. Will this laptop support Microsoft teams, outlook and microsoft office ? Hope to hear from you. Cheers
The notch is the first thing I notice. 2nd would be no ports. I still use a USB. I need at least two. SD card slot would also be nice. Because of these absences I won’t be getting any Macbooks. Sadly, I’m going back to PC.
I can’t decide whether I care more about form factor or that beautiful screen on the 14”
Mac needs at least 16gb ram. I tried the air 8gb and it was terrible. The small screen is great for people on the go… for serious work you need a 16”
Ugh, continuity.
