Will chrome tabs, Minecraft, and GarageBand be okay on 256 gb 8 core GPU?
I think this is a fairly good market positioning from Apple considering the Air will be great for most regular consumers, but push more ‘hardcore’ users towards the more expensive Pro models since the Air is just not quite enough for those power users.
Nice review Dave, as always. But I don’t buy the “it’s not a thing for the people that buy the M2 base model for”. It’s the same “people that bought the M1 base model for 20 months ago”, they spent $300 less, and they got an almost twice as good 256GB SSD. People should NEVER spend $300 more for less capable hardware. Design changes are not gonna cut it.
Thank you for going straight to the point without wasting our time. Kudos!
I love the title 😂. I think those machines are for university students who can afford one for the life of their school life.
I had a mbp price was expensive and it sounded like a jet engine while running safari and powerpoint and stuff like that. My classmates kept looking at me bro is that your laptop it sounds like a plane. It isn’t going to explode right? Tbh I can’t answer that question but i trust it won’t.
I got a midnight 16GB with an upgraded CPU and 256GB storage. This laptop will be more than enough for my needs in my final college semester and into my professional career as an economist. My 2016 13 in MBP can happily retire.
I mean people really shouldn’t be shocked. Like, no matter how promising the specs are it’s still a MacBook Air. It’s not geared towards professional workloads.
In other words, know your needs before making any purchase decisions.
Dave, in this case, I think you’re vastly over-exaggerating the performance difference between the M2 MBP and MBA. Look more closely at your graphs. You said it’s “very noticeable” in gaming, when there’s just a 4 fps difference between the two. You also demonstrated the throttling after 10 and 20 consecutive Cinebench runs, which is a very extreme use case, considering that test pegs the CPU to 99% for the duration of the test. Even pretty heavy 8K video editing doesn’t do that for the entire time you’re working. This machine will be very good for even power users who want a thin and light machine.
M2 like M1 has tunderbolt 3 support. Thunderbolt 4 is only in 14”, 16” macbook’s pro and mac ultra.
so basically my surface laptop 2 still has better aesthetics.
Dave thinks “10” chrome tabs are a lot. He better not see how many windows full of tabs I have open right now, lmao
You didn’t elaborate on why you would not use it as your main laptop, curious to hear ! Great video as always
they should sell an option to remove the camera and notch. i’d personally rather use a detached camera for when i need it, which is only like .9 per cent of the time
I always wonder, what if we try to use external fan on fanless MacBooks with heavy works.
Guys, just use a cooling pad
Even after M2 MBA was announced… still went for a 14 M1 Pro MBP for $1500.
Dude, what am I gonna do with a laptop that has only two USB-C ports??? 😂
Like why?
Apple and Criminal in the same sentence. That about sums up any review for them actually.
When you got 70w through USB C charging which wall plug were you using? Does that charge as fast as the Apple 67w charger?
