On the question of which model to go for this was my though process. If I wanted to upgrade the RAM to 16GB and the SSD to 512GB the price would end up near the 14″ M1 Macbook Pro. As a uni student that is an overkill. Therefore, I opted for the basemodel M2 Macbook Air and an Ipad Air with apple pencil. As a student the basemodel is more than enough and an Ipad would benefit me more than the unnecessary upgrades. In addition to the educational discounts I got the giftcards they offer right now with each purchase. I bought the M2 Macbook Air first, used the $150 giftcard when buying the Ipad Air, and then used to $100 giftcard when buying the apple pencil. This way I got to use all the giftcards and for the same price as the 14″ M1 Macbook Pro and for a bit more than the upgraded M2 Macbook Air I got a Macbook and an Ipad.

Subscribed! I really appreciate your honesty here. It’s also very rare to see tech reviewers that care about budget and practicality. I have a Macbook Air M1 and was thinking of upgrading. Glad I saw your video, thank you so much for saving me money 🙂

personally I’m tired of people saying you only need 8gb 256, that’s a config I wouldn’t have bought in 2019… if you are buying a laptop for emails and docs, buy a cheaper windows or chromebook, you don’t need it… the new apple silicon air models offer great power and great battery life… sure, the m1 pro has better performance, ports, and screen, but it’s also $250-500 more expensive for similar configs.

the ideal buyer for an m2 air imo should be someone who wants a good experience (nice keyboard, track pad, screen, battery life), and also wants the ability to do more intensive tasks, but maybe not in a super progressional high paying capacity (ex. most coding, video/photo editing for yourself)

Just ordered my space gray M2 air! Coming from a Touch Bar 15inch 2016. I need something more portable and this keyboard SUCKS!!
