Its heavier than most of the LG Gram range, which are made for intel x86 chips! The 15.6″ Gram from like 2018 is lighter than this. It has more key travel, more ports than the M1 range of Macbook Pros, and a MIL standard drop test certified chassis.
That just puts Apple’s “innovation” into some perspective doesn’t it….
Something I’d wonder about is, if you’re not using it as a *lap*top and it just remains on a desk, would it be worth getting a thermal pad to connect the heatsink to the chassis to help dissipate heat?
I would figure the MacBook Air isn’t designed for anything longer than a couple minutes of hard work, as capable of a device as it is.
question if it hasn’t already been asked sorry if it has. when you do the live stream and screen record at the same time on a m1 air does it overheat as well or does it perform as expected ?
just picked up a m1 pro 16″ $350 off hoping it was good choice rather then waiting for m2 pro

Agree, I always wished they name the current MacBook Air as just MacBook, because it is not as feather light like the 12” MacBook, and the MacBook regular people are most likely to buy
And name the 12” MacBook as MacBook Air, and price it higher for that air like lighter weight portability. And even invest in even lighter technology like Titanium frame
Amazing that the Macbook Air debuted 14 years ago in 2008. That thing still amazes me how thin and capable it was even today.
I’m still using my MacBook Air from 2017 and I’ll only get a new one when it stops getting the latest software
The 2017 12” MacBook was my favorite laptop I’ve ever had. I would do horrible things for them to make a modern, slim bezel version, maybe a 12.5” version. But honestly if they took that old design and threw an M1 in it and sold it for $700-800 I would buy it in a heartbeat
If people are so bothered by fingerprints they should just get a skin for it.
