Does anyone know if a brand new M1 MBA has the nerfed SSD setup of the new M2 chassis’s? Would I be better off just getting a refurbished M1 Air so I know I’m getting the best hardware available?

Random fun fact (since you showcased it): I actually did one of my final tests on that song WINGS with my new MacBook Pro 😎 I make it a habit to run possible final music through as many speaker variants as possible before release, so the fact that there’s that much of a bass difference between the Air and the Pro even shocked me! The Air would have led me to believe the mix of the song was still off (when it wasn’t). Interesting to see the sound difference from an applicable scenario that would hurt my output in my own stuff!

I’m shocked that the Apple sheep guy has the most balanced view of the MacBook Air! They’ve been playing games with this model for years now, refusing to add reasonable, and now any cooling solutions.

Even if I speced up to 16ram and 512gb, the difference btw 14 pro and m2air is about 600 in Canada.

Help me out here, M1 MBA would be fine for me, don’t need the new M2 one.
BUT: Here, the M1 MBP is only €80 more than the M1 MBA. Is it worth getting the Pro in this case?

The M2 Macs have fallen to the problems of Apple’s pricing ladder strategy where the “mid-tier” option is often the one that is hard to recommend because of how much value the entry level Mac (M1 MBA) and the Pro-level Mac (M1 Pro MBP). It’s kind of similar to how the iPad Air is often the iPad that hardest to recommend because it’s rather close in pricing to the iPad Pro if you spec match, and the last generation iPad Pro/Air is a better deal than the new Air. The new Air is a good machine, but the price is just hard to justify because of the better options that are available in today’s line up.

I returned the base model and got 512 GB model hurt my pocket a lot but I think it’ll be better for me in the long run because I’m going into college being an IT major I’ll probably have to download softwares and need space in the system even though I’m planning on using external SSD anyway if I need it.

I would love the M1 Pro 14″ MBP. I don’t need it however. So, I keep my M1 MBA. Sometimes I hate it when my frugal/sensible side takes over. 😁
