Some of the videos floating around make people think the M2 Air is a disaster, but the truth is that it is the best ultrabook at the moment in the premium space. There is no denying in these tough times it is expensive, but that is why Apple kept the M1 Air in place, for those that find the $1200 too much. So cost should not be a negative especially as most premium Windows machines are similar in starting price.

My M2 MB Pro 13 is also base and has no issues with slowdowns, though I am one of the 95% that would use the Air as it was designed for, office work and casual use, so the Air would have been fine for me, but I managed to get the new MB Pro 13 for £400 off retail so thanks to all the influencer’s hate, it meant a great price for those of us that care little about a new design or some added features!!!

Those coming from old Intel Macs, get the M2 if you can afford it as it is a good upgrade over the M1, despite some reviewers going out the way to recommend the 18-month-old Air M1. Once developers and Apple update the apps and OS for M2 and the new media engines, ML and bandwidth, the gap between the M2 and M1 will widen further.

Finally, if you are a prosumer then the MB Pro 14/16 is the way to go. If you are buying the Air M2 for a lot of multitasking with maybe one pro app, then get 16GB of RAM. It is a great device that is a revelation for anyone coming from Intel Macs.

My midnight M2 with 10 core cpu and 16 GB ram 256 GB SSD arrived yesterday and I’m already in love. I upgraded from a base 2016 MBP. Even the process of transferring files using migration assistant really showed me the difference. I picked up my intel Mac, and it was definitely warm. The M2 was completely cold. And battery life is truly amazing. I got about 7-8 hrs on my 2016 MBP. I used the M2 air yesterday for an hour and a half and didn’t drop below 98%.

I decided to choose the M1 air with more ram and storage. I also waited for the configuration I wanted from the apple refurbished store. I love the M2 air’s refresh, but for the same money I’ve got so much more computer. Lovely review as always!

Good review, just ordered the m1 MacBook Air. I needed a light small laptop for on the go which can edit my canon R7 files if needed. Mainly I also use the Mac studio at home. I could try out the m1 before and it does all I need so I just spend 500€ less ( the air is quite more expensive in Europe..) and called it a day. Cheers mate

May I ask something?

I’m a freelancer who often works with Adobe Photoshop. Every day I use Photoshop 2022 to create carousel content on Instagram. I usually use a size of 10800×1080 px (10 grid size slides) with a resolution of 300 px and many layers. Sometimes I also make banners with a size of 3×4 meters.

Besides Photoshop, I also need the Adobe Illustrator application to open vector files from Freepik and then import them into Photoshop for my work.

With the budget I have to choose the base model Macbook Air M2 or the base model Macbook Pro, which should I choose?

I’m really confused. I want a device that is light to carry and good ports, while I don’t like the touch bar on the MBP M2.

Is the base model good for me? I’m no pro user, I’m just trying to do chrome web browse and use Microsoft office and probably use photoshop 😅 and do some school works!, I have a tight budget, the m1 looks great but i really want the m2, And I love the Mac safe and the freshly new design!!!
