Apple would rather throw more money at marketing than towards creating a meaningful and useful product. It’s a shame. The new MBA form factor is much welcome… but if all I’m going to end up with is an overheating slab of dark aluminum over time, well then.
I need more ports including HDMI. I’d also prefer a cooling fan and larger monitor. Actually, I wonder if the M1 Max in MBP is better than the M2 in MBA.
Bite your tongue, mag safe is amazing
There are usb-c-hubs with charging capability, i dont get the “i’m losing a port”-argument.
I think people who are heavily criticizing Apple for the SSD situation aren’t aware that everything is a compromise, and everything has a BoM cost. The M2 this year is almost certainly a substantial increase in BoM cost over the prev. M1, being a chip that is manufactured on a newer process node, and having a bigger die area (so the number of chips you can cut per wafer goes down, and your yields get worse because the possibility of a defect in the chip as the chip gets bigger increases, increasing the costs further). They could’ve made a million other compromises. They could’ve chosen to not give the MBA a 1080p webcam to keep the costs down, or they could’ve not upgraded the screen to have narrow bezels and higher brightness with better colors, or they could’ve used a plastic bottom casing instead of unibody aluminum like MacBooks have used in the past 15 years. Or manufactured the M2 on an older node. Or not give it a MagSafe port. They chose to compromise the base model’s SSD speeds instead of all of those other options. Sure, some people would’ve chosen other compromises, like a less fancy chassis material (maybe stamped aluminum instead of CNC’d aluminum), and some would point out that we as consumers want companies to absorb cost increases as much as possible. But afterall, they’re first and foremost a for profit company, not a charity, and nobody’s forcing anyone to buy a MacBook Air, be it the base model or any other model.
The 555 people who disliked this video (the majority of which probably did due to this topic), I’m sorry, you’re wrong. Grow up.
3:35 – 💯
Macbook Air M2 has a real pain in the butts crashing and freezing issues.
I love the scratches too. I can’t stop laughing at people buying really expensive pro cameras and lenses and then put skins all over them. Life and living means scratches – embrace it.
5:52. Exactly. The first series of videos about the M2 MBA initially swayed me away from buying it.

I will, in the end, have TWO Macbooks. The upgrade to the one I am currently using, (2017 Macbook 12, base model), will be the M2 Air. This is for productivity only. I will also get a Pro, however, that is for PRODUCTION. One thing I learned in my life is not not to my productivituy on my Production computer, and don’t do Production on my productivity computer.
Got my M1 for 800 in 2022 Black Friday, that’s about all I’d want to pay for a laptop, and I specifically wanted it because it didn’t have a fan or get hot.
That’s what I want. Just a laptop. Not media editing, not for programming. Just a laptop.
No noise. Not hot. Long battery.
That’s me. That’s what I want
