Great video as always my friend. I want to get this for my 11 yr old Son who’s self-taught game and animation coding has his i5 Air heating his bedroom up. That’s the loudest laptop I’ve ever heard.

If I had a choice between MagSafe and an additional pair of Thunderbolt ports on the other side, I’d take the Thunderbolt every time.

Seriously balanced non ‘insane’ review. Thanks you for that. I ordered the Midnight Blue version with 16gb RAM and GASP! 256gb storage. Even after all the crisis hype it was the best price/performance choice for me. I’m a full time photograph and videographer for 29 years but I don’t edit that much video at home so it’s perfect for portability with – I mean honestly – until recently unimaginable performance for the money and size. The tests showing it slowing down copying 60GB of data is ridiculous. If you need to copy that much data frequently you are obviously not going to buy a 256GB storage model. Also if you are constantly rendering long pro Rez video it’s not the right computer in the first place. It’s a fantastic computer that’s arriving tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it. And Everyday Dad complaining that it doesn’t support 2 x 8k screens! Yes it also doesn’t work a a hadron collider. That is not what it’s for. I don’t even have one 8k display. But YES I really, really wish there was a third USB-C on the right hand side instead of the MagSafe. That would have made it perfect.

They are using cheap type 1 anodizing, they could have used a quality type 2 or 3 and fixed this issue for the most part.

Completely unrelated to video… but do you think apple would ever open up Apple Pay to be embedded into any watch by other manufacturers? Similar to how CarPlay and Apple TV now works. Surely it would make apple even more ubiquitous as the go to watch OS, but still not detract from Apple Watch sales to due to all the other features. I say this as I’m a big fan of traditional mechanical timepieces, but love the benefits of not having to carry anything when being contactable isn’t a priority.

so apple needs to not nickel and dim us and make 512GB the base model, end of story. the performance drop from the M1 to the M2 in the same config is just a very bad look for them especially when they’re charging $200 more for a worse machine because of how often the 8GB model uses swap memory… it’s plainly unacceptable. we know their profit margins are overly generous, so there’s really no excuses

Sorry, you’re saying that if you’re editing, a 4K video from an iPhone for more than 10 minutes and it seriously throttles or has hard drive right issues that it’s our fault for not using it, right? How dare people post videos that show up wrong on YouTube. Wrong for Apple? You have literally become the Apple spin propaganda machine. I have followed you for years, but ever since YouTube gave you whatever position you have, you’re kind of weird. It’s like your the deep state of tech or no longer rebel but empire to put in your languages

So apples realised – add improvements for the content creators they advertise the MacBook and boom it’s sold! I love my M1 but Apple have a lot to do to beat it realistically.

The M1 and M2 MBA machines were built to do a lot more than FB, Youtube and email etc. For those tasks you need the $399 base Ipad.

The Apple Silicon MacBook Air laptops were made for Logic Pro, Davinci Resolve, Photoshop etc.
