apple computers are so trash lol 😂
Show the part where you run out of 8gigs of RAM and the paging file is half the speed..
Brand loyalty is gross
“MacBook Air feels like $999.” Pre-inflation this makes sense, but $999 isn’t $999 any more. In my opinion, if M1 MacBook Air was appropriately priced at $999, then $1199 for M2 MacBook Air seems moderately reasonable.
I think people forget that the laptop is the end result of the design process. Not the beginning Apple doesn’t start with a set of technical specs for a machine and then work backwards to find a customer, a workload and a price point for it.
❤Rene’s reviews. Not everyone is YouTuber or videographer. Reviews are how I got all hyped-up + ended w/ M1 MacPro 16″, 16GB, 1TB. 80% I do NOT need. My perfect laptop is 16″ MBA! Movies, surfings, volunteer community projects that require access to desktop browsers .. and don’t work on my iPad Pro 12.9′ w/ Magic Keyboard 👩🏾🦳🤷🏽♀
If apple didn’t include a slower ssd (while charging $200 more) in the base model this would’ve been a nothingburger.
Great take.
Way too easy on Apple for the SSD thing. The biggest issue isn’t even the speed—it’s that 256gb is too small, especially at the 1200 dollar price point. People will find their disk filling up. And the fact that it halves the speed while making this major usability concession just makes matters worse.
So you couldn’t review a product because of this new made up job???
Thanks, I hated your take.
Speaking for so many of us: Rene, give us your clothing sources! In lieu of that, please give us Renewear store where we can get some hoodie and shirt kits!
Your analysis of the 2 128 or 1 256 gb SSDs may be the charitable view but it is not like Apple would not know that an 8GB machine will swap to disk a lot (with the latest OS and just usual workloads) and when that happens an SSD that is half the speed could slow your system down MORE than twice as much (as various tests have shown). This means under various, not uncommon, workloads your base model Air that cost $200 more will be significantly slower than the previous model. Whether they used 128 Gb SSDs or just uped the capacity to 512 Gb they would not have had this problem. This was NOT the right decision. Will they get away with it? Probably. But Apple has been making some sketchy decisions, lately, where their per-unit profitability has been winning out over making the best designed product.
Love the way Rene brings a sense of clarity in an often confusing landscape by filtering the all the available information and putting it to us in a more understandable format.
Maybe they should put the M1 into the new body for $1099.
As an iPad replacement – it really works for me, without the accessories
A well worn laptop is like a well worn book. You didn’t love it enough if it looks brand new.
Ayeeee Emotionally Exhausted tee from Phillip DeFranco! You love to see it.
I had to pause the video, run upstairs to my office, find that setting and uncheck the background render box
That is life changing!
Thank you Rene.
Rene, I think I like this format better: you are giving responses to the many reviewers. Your analysis is always cool and logical, much like a well-disciplined Vulcan–as opposed to all those hot-blooded and irrational and ‘humans’. 🖖🏿
I have my M1 Mac mini (with Fan) that I use for editing. Works fine.
Then I use my M2 MacBook Air for daily productivity tasks.
And it’s snappy AF. Perfect for that application. Just like Rene is saying.
