M1 Mini with 16GB/512GB is already $1100. There’s no way M2 Pro is only $1300 unless it’s a binned chip like the base 14” MBP. A full fat M2 Pro would outperform the Mac Studio which has only been out for 8 months. If they do it, I predict $1499 base.
I would be startled if there are any more M2 based machines, the M3 3nm with the improved graphics should be out by February.
I’m still running a 2012 mini with SSD, one day will get the updated one. Probably next year with the M2
The Intel Mini is still a good value.
We’re using 2 i7’s for our Atmos mixing room. Focusrite’s RenNet card doesn’t work with Apple silicone.
Sounds like a perfect little server!! Just what I’m looking for.
Love my M1 Mac Mini paired with my new Apple Studio Display! Always on for looking at the pro version!
I would be happy just with a new macmini with the same ports my 2018 Mac mini has….why the hell they reduced the number of ports on a desktop computer?? are they nuts???
Have a m1 on the way to use for testing macOS/iOS versions of my programs, considered waiting for the M2, but was able to get about 150$ off at best buy, and considering I’m looking for a “worst” performer case anyway, the M1 was much better value.
Apple will spoil the m2 Mac mini because they stuffed up the rest of the Macs except the M1 Macbook Pros, and they don’t want people switching to a better value well specced alternative.
With Apple it’s not _Being the Best You Can Be,_ it’s manipulating the product line…
…downwards.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day 👍🏻
I just hope apple puts wifi 6e on the new mac minis
They already have a Mac mini Pro. It’s called a studio. The thing that is kind of off about the M1 is how it is already so powerful that it cannibalizes the Mac Studio. Speaking as a designer the apps in Adobe creative suite that I use are all single threaded so the incredible single thread performance of the regular m1 is all most designers need.
Still running my M1 Mac mini and love it.. I had an M1 Mac book air and M1 iMac but the mini and all the customizing you can do with the monitor keyboard mouse and overall desktop setup still my favorite
An m2 pro (mac mini or imac) desktop mac is necessary. While the studio is great and cool, not every user needs a comp at that lvl of performance but do need more than the base m-chip. So to get an m2 pro mac mini would be amazing. Personally id rather have an m2 pro imac but according to rumors that not on the cards for another yr. Even so, a mid level mac would serve alot of that semi-pro/business consumers needs and is definitely an overdue upgrade.
The KEY question for me (as always) is how much local storage will be available on this platform? Is (at least) 8TB going to be a possibility? I have NO USE-CASE for a Mac Studio so either an up-sized updated iMac or a significantly configurable Mac Mini Pro (with the Studio Display) are what I’d be seeking.

Will m2 pro Mac mini come with usb c / sd card at fount ?
i want my M2 Pro Mac Mini in hot pink~
honestly, I’ve already got a M1 Pro 16” Macbook Pro and am just finding a reason to get any updated M2 Pro Mac Mini if it comes out.
that thinner M2 Pro Mac mini concept makes no sense to me because with a more power chip means more thermal output. Yet the less powerful M2 would get all that space in the current chassis? Also would likely make the power supply external which isnt as convenient. IDK I don’t think the mini NEEDS a redesign, they kinda perfected it. It’ll likely be able to keep the lower-mid range Apple silicon chips cool for the foreseeable future.
Mac Mini will probably follow the same chipset trend as the MBA. No Pro chip option.
