I wish I could afford a 16″ M1 Pro, but it’s more than I can afford.
Where’s the wallpaper from?
Brilliant video! Thanks! You actually talk about VM’s and I haven’t been hearing that from others.
Thanks for this review! Have a 12 year old 27 inch iMac and a 5 year old MacBook Air. The iMac is still going strong but doesn’t support much new these days. I want to replace both with this Pro. Question is to purchase this one now, seeing discounted $200, or wait for the M2 version. This machine will likely do more than anything I need and will the M2 really even be released this year at all. Decisions.. decisions
Lol your last few questions personally attacked me. I just bought the 14″ last Sunday and I’m so obsessed with it I’m endlessly watching Reviews and Essentials videos. One thing to note that wasn’t in your video; this is the best keyboard I have ever typed on, including dedicated desktop keyboards. Great travel, low sound, well-spaced and sized, and overall just a joy to use.
Someone here can share your opinion on weight and portability about the MBP 14″? Is it a heavy notebook for those who need mobility? I have a 2017 MBP and I consider it to be a normal weight. And perhaps MBP 14″ be a good choice instead MBA M2.
I made the same jump from the MacBook Air base model to the M1 Pro MackBook Pro 1 TB. I use my machine primarily for media production and just about everything else. I was pleasantly surprised with the front-facing 1080p camera for my zoom conferences and I’m even going to start using it for shooting training videos faster.
Typing on this machine is much more pleasant and the 1″ display increase surprised me as well. There seems to be much more screen real estate than I expected. The way they modified all the software to incorporate the camera notch is quite cleverly executed to the point that I completely forget it’s even there. In fact, the way they’ve incorporated the camera space is almost as if it should’ve been using that screen space all along. No more repositioning your eyes to appear to be looking at the person you’re conversing with online.
The speeds of this machine are so much faster than my lightening fast MacBook Air M1 that I still can’t believe my eyes.
There’s a fan in this machine? I certainly can’t hear it.
Battery life appears to be significantly less than my M1 MacBook Air, but having the return to the MagSafe charger is making that particular issue much less intrusive.
What is that stand you use at 2:09 ?
I. bought a 16″ M1-PRO MacBook Pro with 32GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD a month after they were announced. It’s the best computer I’ve ever owned. I expect to use it for at least 5 and probably 7 or 8 years (I still have and sometimes use my 15″ Mid 2015 MBP where I need a quieter keyboard.). The new 16″ does everything I need it to do effortlessly. I have the subscription Apple Care that will run until I cancel it.
My only complaint is that the touch pad is too close to the space bar. My thumb bumps it and the cursor jumps all over the place. I had to put a 3/4″ wide sandwich of file folder and painters tape across the touch pad next to the space bar. That fixed the cursor jumping problem. I don’t have that problem with the 15″ Mid 2015 MBP which has some space between the space bar and the touch pad.
This would be way more useful if I knew which specs your MacBook has. 🙁
What specs is your 14in MacBook?
I kept my 2015 MB air for 7 years, and if I keep the 14″ pro the same amount it equals .75 a day.
Agree with you — this machine is superb. Also, I’m in the fourth group of people — 4. Gotta have the latest and greatest just because… 😉 Really enjoy your work!
Hello, what’s the ref of your wood stand ?
Has anyone noticed their battery degrading much? My battery health is on 95% and I’ve had mine since December. I used to get through the working day with about 20% left but I generally am on the last 5% when I’m finishing now with the same workload.
Why are only photographers and videographers called creative people?
People creating music are also creative
I find myself wondering if I should get the 14 inch MacBook or get a MacBook Air M1 *AND* iPad mini.
it honestly has a monstrous performance
I just got one, and I am happy with this purchase
How much RAM you running?
