Does writing and exporting and erasing and rewriting large files over and over wear down the drive much faster? I also got the 1tb, and have solely been using an external drive to do all the video editing on to bypass the internal ssd. but i’d love the unmatched speed of the internal drive if constantly writing and erasing project files really isn’t a big deal.. ?
So interesting about your crash / tb dock issue (kernal panic). I’m running a kensington TB3 dock on my macbook pro 14 and never had that issue. Maybe going to TB3 would help?
Regarding storage: they are in process of making a flush micro SD adapter for the 14″/16″ (like the accessories offered in the 2012-2015 models). Great for cheap albeit slow (120 mb/s) internal storage (from 256gb to 1TB)
.
I had Kernel Panics with spectacle app
🤔why you don’t don’t talk about the gaming performance what you talking about is very boring 👎
I have sleep crashes or fail-to-wakes on m1 mac mini, mac pro 7,1, and 2019 16” macbook pro. Xdr or LG ultrafine, didn’t matter. It’s very frustrating. Wonder if you’re also seeing the vram memory leak issue (or unified memory leak in AS hardware).
HDMI should be using usb-c by now, lame.
Does anyone know where I can find the orange abstract wallpaper in the video? Thanks!
my 16” m1 max is also restarting by its own
Not sure how third parties crashing a Mac is Apple’s problem? No issues here.
I have the 16” macbok pro base model and it is like a power house.. i had three or four taps open in chrome then two word docs open and one excel book open and it didn’t even drag
Do you wished that you upgraded the ram to be 64gb rather than 32gb?
Great review!
Give the 14-inch model a shot _first_ ? Um, do other people commonly buy something expensive, just to try it out? I know if I’m dropping mad amounts of money on something, I’m not dating to find out if I like it–it’s a marriage. 😅
First off you posted this on my birthday! I reached level 38, and I feel great! haha With that said, I got a 14″ M1 Pro MBP ($2499 “high end stock” model i.e. 10C CPU/16C GPU/16GB Unified Memory/1TB SSD) back in October on launch day, October 24th, 2021 and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase! I came from a 2015 15″ hi-spec besides storage Intel MBP, and while it still was able to do what I wanted for the most part my dad needed a laptop, and I wanted to have a portable Apple Silicon machine for some to be mentioned travel I can do again. Sure I could have gotten the 16″ with identical specs besides storage (512 GB on that base 16″ config) for the same price, but I started to travel to anime conventions again (I [try to] attend 3-4 of them a year) since I’m fully vaccinated and boosted, and my having had gotten the 14″ was the best option for me since it’s MUCH EASIER to travel with it than a 16″… though I know people that do. I also have an M1 Mac mini that I got in April of 2021 (my unboxing and first impressions video is here on my channel if anyone wants to check it out… shameless plug… lol) partially for a business I’m trying to get off the ground, but also for some game console streaming I want to do, as I’ve never really streamed much from macOS. Anyway, I love having a unique platform again like us Mac users did back in the PowerPC days/era of Macs. I know Windows laptops have ARM chip(sets) as well like that of/from Qualcomm, but the performance of the M1 family is insane. I love having a high performance laptop again for when I want to travel to one of my aforementioned conventions, or just to go to a local Starbucks and work on a video while sipping a mocha latte, or something… lol. Thanks for this video Dan. It was informative and entertaining. Keep em coming!
No mention of the webcam notch. I assume people get used to it…
Recommend an external thunderbolt drive like the OWC Envoy (install your own drive) for FCPX cache files
Heavy is a massive downside for me, I’d take the 14.
Thanks for your Honesty…other Apple Fanboys salesman on this forum…say nothing except that these New laptops are the Greatest thing since slice bread:(
Simply loving my 14″ 10/16 32GB 1TB. Only disappointment: 3D graphics-performance is still nowhere near what Nvidia is able to deliver on PC laptops.
