I hope they come soon to iMacs & Mac mini’s
I hate that notch 👎
Now if only mine would hurry up and arrive. C’MON UPS
Claimshell closing and opening would make screen fragile still like previous versions or is it better because it’s heavier?
This macbook is great, I like the Apple brand and I usually choose it because I know it’s great products, this new macbook I prefer the 14” version, cool video👌👍👍❤️
I’ve got the same model and have no issues with closing the lid. I use a Caldigit ts3 plus dock too.
What! 3 month already? WOW times fly!
The three 3 months, 6 months, 1 year later trick is a great content milking trick… I still watched the video
Still great? STILL GREAT? What kind of use cases do you need a laptop for fgs
The keyboard is horrible!
As a touch type writer using the Ergodox EZ, I ha still not switched to a new computer from my old iMac from 2010…. I tested the keyboard of the new 14 inch and noooo, is complete crap and nonsense…and serious writer, programmer, copy editor that state is marvelous isa not a real touch type writer and should discuss what makes a keyboard good to begin with,,,, what would be amazing is if Apple release a new iPad Pro that got the OSX and so can replace these stupid clam books…. Lol…. I am waiting for the Mac Mini Pro for Mars….. and hopefully an ipad that can somehow use all pro apps and have a terminal to program from…. But, for everything else than the keyboard I love the macbook pro 14 inch interior, just make it an ipad next! 👌🏻😁😎 then I be first in line to buy one!
Wishing to have this as gift someday.
I would suspect that the SSD isn’t slowing down, but rather your SD card reader. Were you using the internal SD card reader or the one on your dock?
Thunderbolt docks are iffy and have been as long as they’ve existed – I tend to put them as far away from the Mac as I can since they go insane at regular intervals. My Caldigit TS3+ sits on the far side of my Thunderbay 4 since I got tired of having to check disks every time the TS3+ went nuts. (The Thunderbay contains a bunch of JBOD disks, one of which is a Time Machine and checking it has become an 8 hour+ task.)
I don’t know if Thunderbolt dock insanity is a function of what they do or how they’re connected – USB-C is a less than stellar connection, and they seem to disconnect if you _think_ about moving wiring near where they’re plugged in. I tend to try to avoid harsh thoughts when dealing with USB-C connectivity.
Sounds like both of your major issues are caused by your dock, which IS third party. Monitor connects to dock, SD card connects to reader on dock.
I don’t get why first 25% of the review is a weird (probably less than 0.1% of users) crash? I’ve never experienced this issue.
This isn’t even a ‘review’, it’s a list of problems this specific person is having, mostly due to their own choices or specific ways of using the MacBook.
I wonder how it keeps up 5 or even 8 months later. Jeesh, you Apple fanboys can really stretch 10 products over a year of videos. How about a little diversification?
All my first gen mbps had annoying bugs for the last decade, Im waiting a year before upgrading to this.
You’re whining about the weight of a 3.5 pound laptop, you need to get a gym membership. I was a SysAdmin living carrying around a laptop to work on server, go to meetings, and go to quiet places to do some coding, my laptops probably weighted two or three times as much.
My last job before retiring a few years ago was working in Media for a large church. With my SysAdmin background I was made the IT guy also for Media and Graphics department since the had a boatload of Mac Pros. Media has lots of large files from audio but really huge files for video. Then and as I read even now Apple has issues with transferring large files so you file problem might be more OS based than the MacBook. itself. You issue with OSX crashing when closing your MBP. could be hardware too, I remember awhile back when ThinkPads had a similar issue.
I’m tempted to get a M1 Pro/Max Mac but waiting to see what early 2022 brings from Apple. Being I do music now no video. there still are OSX issues with audio apps and Monterey and I just saw an audio reviewer who had to backoff a Native M1 DAW to the old version using Rosetta. I’ve been dealing with Apple and Apple products since the 1980’s and all their major upgrades have taken years for the dust to settle with Apple third party apps and hardware. So appear move to M1 is no different probably take another year or so.
I hope to see a bigger iMac with M inside soon and I hope I will get one ( hopefully I will gather enough money, if anyone wants to help me on that matter, just reach me 😁 )
What about the fingerprints in the keyboard, i dont like that, is there less fingerprints in the silver one like it seems in the videos? There is no one talking about it, it seems like there is less fingerprints en the silver one,????
If it was great at the start, why wouldn’t it be great in 3 months? What could change? Is such an expensive piece of equipment only supposed to last such a short period of time? That thing should be great in 3+ years.
