Hey man thank you for the video. I’m all in the box recording producer. I rely heavily on CPU. when I finish making a beat, sometime my artist want to jump in booth right the way, and I’ll be forced to recording with my vsts on. I have a decent PC. so with few plugins and instruments I can get away with 256 Buffer size. would M1MAX PRO handle 32 – 125 buffer?
Is the M1 max worth it for music production? Not sure if the 400gb/s bandwidth is a big enough advantage to upgrade. I will occasionally game and I will start editing videos for youtube so that could justify it a little more. I am leaning towards the 14″ 32gb 24-core M1 max because of the previous stated reason and because i really dont wanna carry around the big 16″
It would’ve been nice to see a Pro Tools stress test. Thank-you.
Hi Reid, interested in reviewing our latest TB4 Max Dock?😎
I’m using Asus ROG as my main machine and now planning on shifting to MacBook Pro with M1 chip… Just wanted to know if they are supporting all audio main plugins and softwares like omnisphere, kontakt, serum, Ableton etc or I should wait???
Can you use AUPitch with the newest MacBook Pro?
How about M1 pro 16 inch ? 💜 from 🇮🇳
Price is ridiculous.
I use FL Studio, just bought an M1 Max. Definitely regret it. Sytrus, one of FL’s most popular synths does not export properly. Some of the Sytrus presets sound ENTIRELY different upon export. I still have to use my old macbook in order to properly bounce my songs.
What display monitors are you reccomend?😊
The intro of him coming up cracks me up every time
Dude! Thank you so much for making this! Well made and good info
Can I know the colour of this model ?
Really good review for music! What about 6 months later review? Is it better now compare to intel with some plugins being updated for M1? I saw only better performance on Logic but rarely on others daw 🙁
Hey man, I’ve bought my own M1 Max and transferring my stuff over using time machine this week!
QUICK QUESTION: did you have to de-activate plug-in licenses or anything before transferring everything over?
thank you!
Would you recommend this over getting a Mac Pro tower? I asked as I think some of my plugins may not be M1 ready. What specs would you go with on the tower? Looking to see what is the least amount of core I can go with.
Hey Reid! I’m about to purchase a Macbook Pro 16″ with the M1 Max 24-gpu chip, but I don’t know if I should go with 32GB ram or 64GB of ram as a content creator/producer. I plan on doing video editing, live streaming my production process using Ableton and may use some Spitfire libraries which are known to have large libraries, as well as Omnisphere, Keyscape etc. What would you recommend as a content creator/producer? I’ll be pushing out to a 2K and 4K monitor as well. Appreciate any feedback you have!
I’m currently running Propellarhead Reason on a 2013 stock settings MBP. Full production with ~50 vocal tracks edited/comped all in the same session usually maxes out my RAM headroom. Should I order a maxed out 64gb RAM M1 if I want to be able to track higher quantities of vocal takes, or would 64gb be overkill?
After a lifetime of windows, I pulled the trigger and went for it. This is the greatest investment I ever made in my producing career. A standard track for me has 30-40 tracks, each with 2-3 plugins running…I still haven’t heard the fan. All the issues I faced with windows is now gone, yes all of them. I’m not trying to upsell the Mac, but if you’re looking to take a serious step in music and want other producers to take you seriously (professionals/ sound engineers) then get this. It’s a lot of money, but it’ll last you a decade if you’re careful with it. Just want to clarify, I mainly got this so I can travel with my work, from studio to studio. I couldn’t find a windows laptop that equates to this at the pricepoint, so went for the Mac and will never look back.
M1 Pro 16”. The best laptop ever, barely gets warm, and fans never come on in my studio. Perfection 👌🏼
