I got my M1 Air (8-core; 256 GB) from Micro Center for $770 on a Black Friday deal. I used to be a video editor. Since now I am doing more general computing these days, this computer is more than I would ever need! Even if I edit a few videos here and there, it will actually be more effective than my old MBP.

I bought an air, when they first came out, it was meant to be a secondary device, six weeks later I sold my primary PC because I just wasn’t using it. Yesterday, I was watching a video, in a zoom meeting, and running a few background tasks, and I was still only using 30% of my CPU. It’s nuts

The M1 Air is probably the best all-purpose laptop ever made.. Its breadth of ability is astounding. All encased in a very elegant design. The design needs an evolution, not.a revolution as the new design we keep seeing looks cheap. I’m still hoping that these renders are of a new lower end ‘Macbook for the masses’ not a replacement for the Air which has that very comfortable wedge design..

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro 15” with 512gb hard drive. My work computer is a 2017 POS as I have about 8 broken keys to play scrabble with! I decided to upgrade to the mba m1 (16gb/1tb); going to get back into Final Cut Pro editing, maybe learn more programming and writing with a nice keyboard! Knowing I’m keeping this for about 10 years, I have faith this will last!

The M1 Air is the de facto standard of mobile computing, making it the best compromise in term of price point, design, autonomy, performance, stability and security, screen quality, and even sound quality. I think that when the app scene will catch up with the immense boost that this platform is bringing, we will see a massive number of unbelievable new experiences offered on that kind of device. Just like with the Amiga back in around 1985-1990

I have never really liked a laptop like I do this. I had an M1 Max 14” delivered with 32gb ram, 2tb. I sent it back. It just wasn’t worth $4k for the upgrade. I love my M1 Air! (Mostly just edit weddings w/ 42 megapixel images… the laptop does just fine).

Hi! I have a request! The new version of blender( 3.1a) for apple silicon has a built in Cycles engine that uses the GPU for rendering, which is much much better and faster that the typical CPU rendering tests. It will be interesting to see how the M1 pro and M1 Max GPUs rank with this new upgraded 3d engine.

Easily the best laptop purchase I made. Base model m1 air handles my 4k video edits. Full frame camera raw pics and Xcode requirements with no problems.
