The MacBook Air is still such an incredible value for a laptop even with the 14 inch MacBook Pro. Even with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD there is still a $600 difference between the two. For general purpose tasks, the M1 chip in the MacBook Air matches the M1 Pro chip in the 14” MacBook Pro and has two more efficiency cores. The display on the 14 inch MacBook Pro is amazing but isn’t very noticeable during general use, but is still a big plus, especially for HDR. Pro motion is nice but isn’t as important on a laptop as it is on an iPad or an iPhone, although it is good to have, although some may never use it. The speakers are a nice bonus but the M1 Air has excellent speakers as well, even if not as good. The new design is incredible and is way better, but it is thick and is larger than the M1 Air, making it less sleek and less portable. Overall for the general public and for users who do not even some processor intensive work the M1 Air is such a beast, and users should only pick the 14 inch Pro if they are a professional and will benefit from the better speakers, better chip, better display, and more ports, or if they just have the money to spend on a luxury laptop, although the M1 Air is still very premium in my opinion.
Nicely explained! ❤️thanks for this kind video mate
Just bought my first Mac as a Macbook air M1. I hope it will at least last till the end of 2024 before replacing it.
I also still wanna get the M1 Air to this day, since I like that it still uses USB-C to charge, so I can still use my portable charger on it when I can’t find an outlet anywhere in public.
I have been a Mac user for more than 10 years and being an Engineer I have worked a lot on Troubleshooting and Fixing Macs as well. Mac OS used to be very stable and advance. But I am really disappointed and frustated since I got M1 Pro and used macOS Monterey and Ventura. Below are my comments: For older Macbook Users:
1. MacOS used to be very stable and updates used to happen in night while Mac is on sleep, After M1, updates comes several times a month and take many hours everytime to complete.
2. The MacOs after Big Sur has became very very buggy and remained buggy even till now (Ventura).
3. In the last 5 years, the OS hardly has any big feature updates. Windows 11 now have really superior UI and features.
4. I never needed to visit Apple Care, Internet Recovery was one of the best thing Mac have. But now they have removed Internet Recovery and incase if OS corrupts(Happening very frequently since M1 and Big Sur OS), you have no other option that visiting Apple Care.
5.Even having another latest Mac with Apple Configurator doesn’t works in most of the cases to restore the problematic Mac.
6.No Internet Recovery or Booting from External Pendrive incase if any problem comes of want to downgrade to previous version of MacOS.
For New Mac Users or wannabe Mac users:
1. The only reason you should buy a Mac is for show off. There is no other reason to buy a Mac currently. (Good Windows 11 Laptops are better in all ways.)
2. macOS is currently hell buggy (Far more than Windows 11 on good laptops), with Not even half of the features available when compared to Windows 11.
3. If the macOS update fails and corrupts(Happening very frequently since M1 and Big Sur OS), you will need to visit Apple Care. They have made M1 Macs in a way that No Local Shop or Internet Tutorial will be able to help you.
4. Be ready to consume around 50 – 100GB of data and many many hours of your time every month on OS Updates (You will not find any new feature even after updating).
5. Most of the Devices will not support well, No possibility of good gaming.
6.Cannot make multiple partitions properly. Fingerprint supports only 3-5 different fingers max.
7.If any app even gets a small update, it may take several minutes for Mac to verify that app until you can starting using that app again.
8.For most of the simple simple things, you will need to use Terminal Commandline because UI is not available for many of the Settings. (For example if you want to do a big download and make sure that Mac doesn’t go to sleep even if you close the lid by mistake) If show off is not a factor, Get a Windows laptop with much more better OS, Features and Hardware capbilities in much lesser price.
Words to Apple CEO: M1 Air is the best laptop apple produces, you should stick to the same design and develop it to better performance, battery, and more colors (red, orange), and corporate it with B&O or B&W or Bose for a better sound system, Zeiss camera lens…etc,.
As a single father on a very tight budget. I have had the 2013 MacBook. Just upgraded (really needed as 2013 isn’t supported anymore.) to the 2020 13” MacBook Air. I know it’s not a M2 but I’m really enjoying the power of the 2020 M1 MacBook Air.
What type of video editing inbuilt software the MacBook has?
This one didn’t age well.
