I too bought the base (8GB) model, I haven’t come across any issues, tried to open a bunch of chrome(m1 version)/safari tabs, vscode, xcode, spotify. I did see that my swap memory hit the 9GB mark at some point while I was installing xcode and other apps from the app store. I wonder why you saw those ram issues, perhaps some apps were being installed in the background or antivirus sw?
Yoh, I also have subject like this, ICT, what coding app did you download? we are already starting now. thanks advance.
Thank you very much for the RAM warning. As someone who is interested in software development, I had questions about 8GB of RAM, I think it would be better to choose 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD variant. Nice video!
About the android studio. You may also face the same issue about the emulator with windows that you have to allow the VT from the very inside settings of your laptop. Even when I allowed it the resolution wasn’t that good. I have HP Pavilion and android studio is so slow and heavy on it and as I mentioned before the resolution of the emulator was so bad. So it’s always better to use an android phone when working with android studio
Very informational video. I’m about to start my Masters in CS and was wondering if I should get the M1 Macbook Pro. I might have to use some Windows only software, but I have a desktop that I can use for that… I might wait a bit longer before buying..
I bought the 8gb -__-
Thank you for this!
Oh I’m studying computer science next year university and this laptop looks good for me and I’ve always wanted to get into app and web development so it’s a win. Mostly I just study traditional CS algorithms and data structures as well as advanced hardware and organisation. In my country to do CS there are different routes and my root is the most academic as CS is an elective and not required but it’s basically yr 1 and some yr 2 of CS as it’s really theoretical and I was told uni is easier as it’s more coding. A lot of these issues will be patched.
Great video. Greetings from Spain
hey. does Linux run on this new M1 chips well?
Good work 👍 keep it up 👍🙂
As a SWE looking for a personal laptop, this is the review I needed. I’m gonna pass. Thank you
Of course it’s good
Is 256gb enough for comp science student? And did you buy apple care?
Can i use software if i buy the 2020 model intel core i3? is it enough?
Better wainting for the next generation before bying the M1.
You can get windows now on MacBook Air m1,
Loved this review as I’m a computer science student and i’am looking at getting a MacBook Air
I agree with you. This is a good choice for many people. I develop in JAVA but I use windows for develop in web. I’ll buy Mac book M1 AIR with 16 gb RAM for my personal things. I’m so excited 😃
