I really liked this review! I’ve always been a Windows and Android user but now that the lowest price tier Macs are starting to get any good, I’m seriously giving the M1 and possibly its successor a thought. 1100€ (that’s the price here but it includes VAT) isn’t cheap by any means if my gaming rig costed me around 1400€ so it’s definitely a small amount…
But it’s still reasonable compared to 2000-3000€ costing machines, just like you pointed out in the video (that they don’t affect 99% of the people).

Just a few things that have kept me thinking: No one knows when the successor to the M1 Macbook Air is coming (some say it’s going to be as late as October 2022). Could be sooner; who knows.
The main thing that I see as a huge thing is the MagSafe port since the Macbook only has 2 USB-C ports. That’s not a whole lot especially if you have the laptop plugged in (as great as its battery is). That leaves only one USB port which is reserved for a hub. A dedicated MagSafe port could somewhat alleviate this issue.

The 720p poor webcam quality doesn’t really annoy me since I rarely if ever even use a webcam in my life and if I do, I usually use my Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite to do the trick.
I don’t mind the current design so the rumored updated design doesn’t really concern me.

Some say the new M2 will replace the current M1 and the price-tier would be the same ($1000, 1100€) and some believe it’ll cost more, along the lines of the M1 Macbook Pro 13″ ($1300).
It’s too early to say.

Sorry that my post got a bit lengthy. I liked the feedback you gave on the video. And just as you pointed out.
My main reasons of wanting to get my first Macbook are: great touchpad & keyboard and pretty good speakers. Most of the laptops that I’ve used have had crappy ones if I’m being honest. But they’ve costed like 550€ or a little above that, with plastic builds.

Just ordered this MacBook Air model in the same configuration you have (8-core CPU & 7-core GPU, 16GB of RAM) replacing an old MacBook from 2016. I used about $800 in gift cards I received from old device trade ins and gifts and paid only $375 out of my own pocket for it. Is this still a good buy considering their is a new M2 model coming out later this year? As much fun as colors and a new look would be, I’m not a huge fan of white bezels and keyboards aside from an actual iMac, and I love the wedged design and “if it ain’t broke done fix it” type of design Apple has had for years now, as well as the space grey color just looking so sleek. Would love to hear your thoughts.
