What to say about Apple? My MacBook Pro 13″ Late 2013 is still running as day one!!! And upgraded to the latest Big Sur! It’s the only computer I’ve ever had lasting so much! Everything else, I was forced to change it after max 4 years!

I’ve been provided a new Dell XPS 13 9310 at work and previously I was on XPS 15 9560 and Jesus Christ Dell has the worst QC ever. There are so many issues with hardware. I had a screen show lines for few seconds after 1 day. The trackpad’s one corner is more sunken in than the other. I had to run a recovery after the first startup it just froze and I force shut it down after which it complained about the disk being corrupted. I only had this laptop for 4 days. I remember when I had a MacBook, never had any issues what so ever. Dell is the worst, best business windows laptops are Lenovo – almost never any issues or QC concerns.

I own a 2015 13″ MBPro retina and my only issue has been you can’t upgrade ram and the battery was a pain to replace. I was able to upgrade the 256GB it had with a 1TB samsung 970 NVME without any issue but thats all you can upgrade. Apple makes a great machine but every generation becomes less repairable and less upgradeable and Apple charges a huge premium to repair.

My 2017 XPS started well enough but after about a year I was experiencing a BSOD every month at least and just a few months ago it completely fried and stopped working (apparently many others had similar experiences). Still trying to recover the HD. Not to mention Win 10 rebooting at random without a care for whatever I had open, but that’s more of a Win 10 gripe, I’m finally moving to Mac.

XPS can run Windows. End of the good things about XPS vs M1 🙂
If you don’t need Windows I think there’s no need to argue. The M1 smashes the XPS 13 line-up.

Using my USB-C doc station, I use both my Dell monitors and the built in display on the MacBook Air. Not many people are going to use just the one port on the laptop for a monitor setup for professional work IMO.. but meh maybe I’m way off.

i love you to bits Lisa but its time to get rid of that huge ugly bluetooth mic around your neck and replace it with something a little more subtle and aesthetically pleasing and take us thru the process of how you made your new choice. I have a 13 intel MacBook Pro and the XPS 13. Both good computers honestly. The Dell stays cooler than the MacBook Pro but it’s not the M1
