Imagine if they released a MacBook Air running windows.
Title says “Dell XPS 3” 🤔
The MacBook Air, hands down. This isn’t a smack down, it’s a massacre by Apple. I bought the Air and it blows away my high powered pc. Shit doesn’t even seem real, all this while running cooler and no fan noise EVER!
issues with bluetooth, usb, external hard drive issues(horrible) with the m1. NO upgradeability in memory, hard drive or cpu. Compare an Apple to the same price pc, and you will see that you can get a Asus gaming laptop that runs better and more upgradeability than the m1. Oh, and NO windows programs without emulation as well.
Very very nervous times for x86 laptop manufacturers – what are they even going to respond with when an M2 pro-range of Apple products hits the market?
Silicon*
MacBook has a much nicer screen
You missed a few things:
1/ The base XPS 9310 ($999) chip is i3-1115G4 which is a dual-core chip so the Geekbench 5 multi-core performance in your video is wrong.
2/ You forgot to mention the GPU performance.
If your life don’t depend on Window, just get the MBA and learn about MacOS. If you can live with worse built products get AMD.
I can’t wait for the 16” MacBook Pro.
I’ll probably pick one up
It seems that the Apple ecosystem has become more rigid with tracking user use of applications. I’m thinking the XPS 13 is good because it can run Linux. Your thoughts?
The Mac is wiping the floor with the XPS. No ifs or buts.
Ordering my 2TB 16GB RAM MacBook Pro 13 tonight!
Apple now hands down has the best systems. You also should include customer service in reviews. Apple has the top of the line CS while Dell use to be top of the line. Now Dell is trash when it comes to CS while Apple continues to shine. Grant it, I haven’t had to deal with Apple’s CS much since their products, well work but when I have, it’s much better. Even when it has nothing to do with hardware, Apple’s CS is amazing. That is a huge value.
It appears that only the latest AMD mobile chips are faster than the M1 at the moment. The only downside of the M1 is that discreet graphics cards can still out perform it, but Macs are not normally used by heavy gamers and the M1 is still capable of acceptable framerates in certain games if details are lowered.
Amazing battery life, cracking touchpad, fantastic speakers, class-leading performance, fantastic screen, OS is maturing – design shortcomings are a small price to pay. The Pro is the best laptop I have ever owned, hands down.
Between me and my wife, we have all 3 of them. The Dell XPS sucks. A few weeks after having it, Dell issued a “recall” and wanted to install a refurbished mother board on my brand new machine.
XPS 3?
It’s been a long time since Apple pulled ahead of the XPS this clearly
I’m a Dell XPS 13 and XPS 15 owner and these laptops have my attention. I think part of the reason Apple went with the M1 chips in the 13-inch laptop space first (aside from market share) is that the low-powered Intel chips are extremely underwhelming. The performance limitations of my 13-inch and the rapid thermal escalation makes it a very clunky machine to work on. The 15-inch laptops are using very respectable chipsets compared to their desktop family members. The M1 clearly shows the benefits of the architecture. If this is scalable into the larger, more powerful machines down the road like a new 16-inch MacBook Pro and iMac, we’re in for a real leap in at-home processing performance that can’t be ignored by even the most loyal of Windows users.
I don’t believe any of these M1 devices are right for me because of the real lack of ports. Apple: an external SSD, card reader, and CHARGER all need to be read at one time for most professional media applications! Dell gets it.
I remember dell’s thunderbolt only uses 2 pcie lanes each and the Mac uses 4.
