I’m not a MacOS fan, but don’t buy the XPS 13, I returned mine (FHD), the battery life sucks.

1:15 I was lucky enough to get my hands on both the FHD+ and UHD+ Displays on the Dell. While the lower resolution display is perfectly fine, but damn that UHD+ displays has that extra kick and there is very little aliasing on the text or the Windows GUI. It’s simply gorgeous and feels like paper quality. On other hand it makes low quality content more pronounced but that’s rare and expected.

Just buy the Air if you want a Macbook. That $300 is better used somewhere else like storage or ram. Having slightly better performance + a fan can be nice, but are unnecessary for most people. The Air is already very powerful with the M1 chip. 7 more hours of battery life also sounds appealing, but 13 hours of battery from the Air is plenty and already better than nearly all of the Windows laptops.

If you want a more powerful system, than I would suggest waiting for the re-designed Pro in the 3rd quarter of 2021. It will be way more expensive though so if you want power but you don’t want to pay $1800+, then get the Pro now.

dell laptops or windows laptops in general are such a pain in the aassss. the main issue i have with them is the S0 sleep mode where the laptop never really goes to sleep therefore sometimes youll find your laptop scorching hot in your bag, sometimes the battery would be dead, or windows would be updating. you can see how uneasy that would make you feel when youre using this for work or school. dell and windows recommends shutting down the laptop before placing it in your bag but it defeats the whole idea of a laptop. its so infuriating!!!! genuinely feel duped and its irritating me that no one really brings up this issue. i wouldnt mind shutting down as much if windows didnt need to go through a set up process upon initial start up that consumes at least 5% of battery in 10 min. my advice, if you dont need windows OS or a specific hardware, get a mac as your laptop.

In my opinion m1 macs are way better than others notebooks. Its better than year ago best macbooks pro so how this somehow same price dell could win with that… Also compering Mac with dell looks like compering mercedes benz to KIA or something. I think more comparable are Microsoft surfaces or maybe razers… but this is just mine opinion otherwise great job thanks for Your work Lisa!

Great review. I did see this video before getting myself a new Macbook air M1. Coming from a Windows ecosystem for life I have to say its a bit sweet and sour, not too say frustrating. I’m into audio editing and there are many software apps I used in windows not yet available in mac. (Aimp, 7zip, etc). No question that the Mac Air runs smoothly, fast and cold with no hiccups; but the absence of these basic audio software can drive one bananas. To the point that I’m considering returning it and going after the XPS 13. Decisions, decisions.

Seems to me like the comparison is pretty pointless – most people will make this decision based on the OS installed on them. Unless all you do is web browser based…

I’m with the Dell just because it has Windows.. the main downside of macs is they don’t run Windows.. if so, they would dominate the market of business laptops

What is your opinion on the FHD vs UHD display for Dell xps 13? Not the resolution, but apparently they are different in anti glare vs anti reflective (Dell’s words). Is it noticeable difference?

I wanted to buy a new XPS 13 11th gen with the 3rd stimulus and on Sunday I had the option to get the i7, 32GB of RAM, 1tb drive with FHD+ for $1,690 which I should have ordered, but now it is $2,000 for the same specs a few days later.
