Cpu frecuency behavior video with intel (R) Power Gadget please Luke!
Powerful yes, versatile No. 128 gig LULS, and how much to upgrade it to something practical? Only 2 ports of 1 format with none on the other side where there could be usb3? A new keyboard? Its still the scissor type so nobody should bet on it…Oh and touch bar which nobody likes but Apple removed them as an option from the line up anyway…This Mac is nothing to get excited about…..Apple has become a company that only shareholders get excited about now.
So this model is at least 50% faster than a late 2012 quad core model, at least for editing….interesting. But that noise…yuck.
Try fortnite 🤷🏻♂️
Make a base 2019 Pro Vs High End 2019 Pro
It’s criminal that they still ship a base model MBP with a 128GB SSD. Even the base model 2015 12″ MacBook had a 256GB SSD 😂
DDR3 ram? Seriously?!
128gb ssd lol what a joke.
That godawful keyboard.
That useless touchbar.
Man it’s like they deliberately ruined the MacBook.
This Macbook or the Macbook Air?
what about the fans on the higher-end 2,4ghz? are they as loud when the laptop is under heavy work??
The 1.4GHz seriously threw me off on the website, but I’ve got to say this is actually super impressive. I think it’s time to move on from my maxed out 2011 15” Pro now that the baseline pro finialy out-benchmarks it. I’m almost compelled to just go for this with a 4K display rather than going for another 15” & get the best of both worlds. Any display recommendations? I love my Cinema Display and wish they just put the iMac displays in housing. I would totally pay the premium.
test a few “old” games
What I’d be curious about is how it compares to the mid-2015 MacBook Pro. You claim that most people pick up the base model MBP but that seems unlikely to me. At least for software developers, a really big part of the MBP market, a base model just wouldn’t cut it. They need more RAM, more storage, and benefit greatly from increased CPU speed. Many developers have stuck with their mid-2015 MBP due to the changes made since then which were just moves backward, and I’m curious if the new revision will do anything to woo them.
Fortnite test!!!
1.499,00 € for just 128 GB of storage ist just to expensive 😭
Ok here’s a lil update on the performance and thermals: The 1.4ghz base clock is very interesting, because as soon as the CPU goes under load (in this case Cinebench) it turbos all the way up to 2.9ghz. Thats a 1.5ghz all core boost, very impressive. The temps (as with any Apple device smh) get up into the 90C range pretty quick and then the fan kicks in. By running the fan at full speed manually we can keep it in the 80s most of the time and run a 2.9/3.0 turbo speed. Scores improve about 2.5%. By the way the fan is 7200RPM, which is nuts, if only the iMac had hard drives that spun that fast 😉
You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to someone to post JUST THE BASE MODEL macbook pro. Now I know what to do.
Happy with my MBP 2015
Try to upgrade the storage… LOL
That processor makes the same Geekbench score as the overclocked i7 4790K in my gaming rig…
I don’t understand the people complaining about this model. It’s a great deal, even with this little storage. But, besides the ddr3 and 128gb (come on Tim! not all is a profit race!), the performance results at that price are great! It’s $1k lower than 15′ MBP. That, that it’s a good thing.
Great review Luke!
