I need video creating YouTubers to understand that performance means nothing to almost everyone but you guys ESPECIALLY in the Apple Silicon World. The idea that I would forgo a thinner, lighter, better battery life, slightly bigger display laptop WITHOUT a fan for a heavier, thicker, louder machine with worse battery just b/c it can eek out +1400 in Cinebench is dumb. No one who wants a 15″ air is gonna think “Hm I wanted this computer for all of these reasons, but I guess I could forget it and get this completely other class of device that has none of the benefits of this original thing I wanted b/c a YouTuber thinks my render time is gonna down by 2 minutes if I get the chip with “PRO” scratched into it” Nothing almost anybody does pushes even the basic M chips to their limit. Not everyone is cutting 4K video and doing motion fx. The 14″ MacBook Pro is nothing like the 15″ air regardless of what you pay for a RAM upgrade or a SSD bump

Spot on with the comparison to the 2016-2019 15″ MacBook Pro. (They are actually very close to each other in terms of dimensions) I always thought that generation was easily the sexiest laptop ever made, but it did come with tons of compromises. The 15″ MacBook Air brings back all of the sexiness of that design without the issues.

Screen size is very significant difference. Why would you casually only use smaller screen?! If it fits backpack, fine, but smaller than 15 inch is limiting screen estate really much. But 13 inch requires using advanced techniques to get barely some screen space like using fullscreen for some apps. And it’s especially true if you increase font size significantly to read painlessly without tears.
