Buyers guide please! I’m helping my sister to buy a new laptop in a month or so. She wants a big screen and good performance for Autocad and photoshop with a $2000 usd max budget. So I’m between the 15 Air or the 14 Pro.

I’d like to see a comparison of the 16” MacBook Pro to this – specifically the screen size…. I ended up getting a base 16” for the screen size, but run it in one larger than default (text is just too small for me).. but I’m considering “downgrading” because I don’t need that power, but want something way lighter.. the 16” is great, but heavy!!

I have a base M1 Macbook Air and a 27″ 1440p monitor at home. It’s the perfect combination of portability and having a big display for work at home.

Although I think this 15 Air will be a best seller here in my country the 8/512 version is so close in price to the 14 Pro that for me it’s a no brainer. 14 Pro all the way, better screen, better performance, more ports, superior audio

Sold my M1 Max 16 to get the 15 air. Money isn’t a factor for me but I value a large screen for working with two documents at a time. The 16 is amazing but it’s fairly heavy for everyday carry imo.

If my 14″ M1 Pro ever feels out of date… I really hope 15″ Air’s are still in their lineup. It might be a long while yet 😉

Make no mistake, Apple has ALWAYS known that there was demand for an Air with a 15 inch display. But they aren’t dumb…they (very cynically) kept that desirable product off the market to compel non-pro people to spend waaay more on a laptop than necessary. The one and only reason that they are releasing this 15″ Grandpa Munster now is because Mac (and PC) sales are down big time due to the Pandemic-era frenzy of purchases that pulled forward a ton of demand.

It would be useful for a buyers guide for a variety of use cases: video producer (obvs), musician, gamer etc. Great video – will this become your principal mobile computer?

My mum just went through deciding between a 16″ MBP or waiting for the new 15″ Air, as her aging 15″ Pro was having issues. And just 2 weeks before WWDC she decided to get a new M1 (yes M1) 16″ MBP which a shop had still in its original box for a good price. We figured by the time she upped the storage and RAM it was the better choice, not to mention the much better screen even if she will never use the performance.

I just got the 15″ Air in silver today to replace my not-that-old M2 13″ Air. So far, after setup and app installs, I am really liking it. I’m gonna use it for a day or two before deciding whether to keep it. See how it does as my daily driver as I travel between customers and such. It’s definitely gonna take up more space in my bag–in fact, I may need to switch bags–but as I’ve grown older, I am appreciating the larger screens (and larger text more for sure. 🤨 Thanks for the excellent vid!
