Simple Mapple just need more and more money. Environment my aszz
Wondering what will happen to the iPhone SE. Apple reuses older phone chasis in order to keep cost down. Those have Lightning tho. When the move to usb-C is made, there are no older usb-C models yet for then to use for the iPhone SE right?
I’m using a Mac charger on my Android right now. Apple still hasn’t fixed this? After all these years?
I have used both android and currently iPhone. I don’t do a lot of data transferring. Or at least any that would need the super fast times that USB C offers. I love this idea. But I also don’t think it’s going to help. Everyone says “now I only need one cable instead of many!” But I highly doubt people are swapping one USB C cable between every device they own. I work in phone sales and I see people all the time wanting the newer faster charging blocks/cables regardless of what they currently own.
Can’t even remember the last time I plugged in my iPhone to charge it.Been wirelessly charging via Qi or MagSafe for years.
usb-c sucks
I can’t tell you how annoying it is for my android phone needing to be charged and finding the only charger people have are lightning cables
i think in general, the industry should move away from micro usb and instead put usb c in its place. many things such as arduino boards and various consumer products still force you to fiddle with the orientation of the micro usb cable. it’s another cable you have to bring with you.
additionally, the argument about chargers as waste is faulty because chargers have usb type A. you don’t normally see chargers with lightning or other port on that end. it’s the cable not necessarily the charger itself.
Apple is getting rid of the connector and use mag safe charging.
As someone who just switched to iphone from Android I would love USB-C. When I travel I bring one small charger and one cable. That takes care of my camera, headphone, iPad and phone. Yes it’s ONLY an extra cable. But iPhone being the odd one out is at least 2 more cables to buy that were surprisingly pricey at that. A cable for home and one for the car. Even getting the charging element out of the way. The iPhone Pro can shoot ProRes 4K video. Why would you not want a faster data connection for files like that. You can add displayport functionalities and connect your phone to a monitor as a mini work station just a small Bluetooth keyboard.
It seems nice but i dont like it being forced
Your choice of presenter is really brave. Well done.
Making USB-C “universal” is a good idea. It’s surprising that Apple hasn’t done it with their iPhones.
2024 is too late, by then iphone will lose its charging port and will focus on magsafe and weather we like it or not people will still buy the iphones
I wonder … So, is USB-C the final form of ports?
Will there be a newer port that is better than USB-C in the future?
And if yes, will this law prevent the new port from becoming prevalent?
Imagine how hypocritical for your company to claim it’s so environmentally friendly but you force people to buy more cables and junk instead of letting them use what they already have. 🤡
Apple won’t increase charging speeds if they change to USB-C
This will not reduce e-waste and it will not save the consumer money. However, it will do exactly what Apple says, stifle innovation, since there will now be required ports. What happens when USB-C is an old outdated port? What happens if a charge port isn’t needed any more? The whole thing is stupid; let the free market decide if a standard port is worth it. (We are already moving in that direction without legislation)
If Apple can prove that its Lightning Charger is superior to and more efficient than USB-C, then they should be allowed to keep it. But if Apple only wants its Lightning Charger because it’s proprietary to Apple, then force them to go with the current charging standard of USB-C.
