So my theory is that they’re releasing this because it’d have been more expensive for them to keep producing A13’s than to move to the A15.
There’s also rumors that the iPhone 14 will stay on the A15, so it may be an economy of scale thing.

They should just throw the specs into a iPhone XR body, still have the LCD and lots the the lesser specs that should keep the price down but could bridge that gap between the SE and the more flagship models. Yeah I know they sell last years models but not everyone cares about OLED and I’m sure with the newer efficient chip in a phone that has a similar battery size to the 12 would be an attractive option imo

Aside from the battery size, I honestly like that Apple is keeping an old form factor around for those who like it. A close friend of mine doesn’t want the bigger full screen phones and many people do not notice or need HFR. The one camera is limiting, but it’s at least a good camera vs the tack on “macro” cameras that other phones add. I wish better battery, but I also wish there were more small phones like this for those who want them
