This version should had the body of the iPhone 11, but I guess the 5G, Face ID and other features were going to drive the price up a lot.

Why not sell the 12 Mini as the new SE? Or is it cheaper to use a new SOC in an old case compared to an older SOC in a newer case? I mean the A14 is still a very fast chip, even compared to most of the other SOCs.

The iPhone SE embodies frugality. It is simple. The iPhone SE uses less material than newer phones, such as the iPhone 13, but gets a brand new modern chip. You do not need two cameras or a massive screen. Looking at phones from a sustainability or resource perspective, the iPhone SE is great.
I want to get a smaller phone in the future but still get the best chip that is the most energy-efficient.
More and bigger is not always better, nor the most sustainable.

“Headroom for days with A15″…yes, the CPU…but the rest is outdated now…not even talking about how that tiny battery will be after the usual charging cycle for 2-4-6 years… I don’t see why wasting that much if the point was saving components to make this cheaper…as you said… I might have swapped that for a previous gen bionic chip and made a more “balanced phone”… I see this only targeting grandparents or easy users that only uses a phone for calling/messaging and a bit else (and all those that after 6 years of an older iphone needed a new one, without selling a kidney, and with that HOLY home button). Great job by MKB as always
