Don’t think of it as a Special or Simple Edition, think of it as the Senior Edition. This is the only iphone with a Home Button, so there is an easy way to get back to the Home Screen for those that self-describe themselves as not tech savvy. Having the chins avoids accidental screen presses. And the price is fine for a phone that should last for the next 6 or 7 years.

I expected Apple to re-use the XR body for this year’s SE – it was a super popular phone, came in different colours, had a bigger display, Face ID etc., But, despite their push on Face ID, I guess there are plenty of customers out there who want a home button and not learn how to use a phone. I am sure they have enough research and data points to back up this business decision.

It feels kinda like a bad idea for them to still be using this old design from a software standpoint, since now they have to spend another few years making their latest iOS releases and apps work with this different display size and aspect ratio iPhone
