maybe they can put it in a 8 plus body for the ultra wide camera and use software for the telephoto like the the pixel 4a and maybe proper 90 hertz

You frame this as if the only reason somebody is getting this phone is because of budget. I love my previous-gen SE because I don’t want a bigger screen and I don’t want Face ID. Yeah, I wouldn’t mind ProMotion and better battery life, but I really don’t need anything more than what the SE gives me.

What it has special:
– Fast processor (almost pointless for a small display and battery)
– Good camera
– Software support

What it doesn’t have that others have:
– Bigger display
– Amoled display
– Higher refresh rate.
– Wide lens
– Bigger battery
– Fast charging
– Way better modern design

They should use iPhone X series design as it will allow them to use 2 cameras, bigger display, better battery. Many people buy iPhone because of their longevity but if it doesn’t have better battery, no matter what the SoC is, how long you give updates, it will ultimately end up damaging Apple’s brand image in the long run. Also, it is fast but does it have the battery to sustain it for stupid amounts of time.

Pretty much hit on my only hold offs from the SE, I think it’s good for the money, and as someone who would mainly use it for relatively light work stuff, it’s pretty fantastic and I’ll probably pick one up to use as a work phone. Really all of it is perfect, just would like that better battery/charging and a screen bump would be nice but not necessary, I’d definitely be interested in seeing if they do try to retool or shove It into a slightly different frame still to see what they could do

I’m getting this for my grandma and she has used an iPad for years but never had a smart phone so I’m so glad the form factor and screen with that chin has stayed because it’s familiar to people like her and she doesn’t need to learn gestures so I’m very grateful for that. It’s not appealing to the tech people because we all want the best for the best price but I still love a cheap simple phone and still has a place imo.

Tech reviewers seem to completely miss why people buy these… many don’t want to move away from the home button. That’s it. And this is the iPhone they can get from a carrier that does it still. I’m glad you brought that up, but the demands of new hardware, or just buying an older iPhone don’t hold up for the older folk that this absolutely targets
