Same happened to my 7+ it had an over sensitive home button I’m currently still using it i changed the Home button and can’t use touch id
It’s still better than not being able to use my home button tbh

You don’t need to replace the whole screen. If you have a donor screen you can break apart the backlight layer to expose the flex cable that routes the HB connection. You can peel it off the old screen and put it behind the metal shield that is held down by 6 screws. It’s way way way cheaper.

Something I found with these home buttons, if that small metal strip plate that covers the back of the home button is a little warped it can mess with the force sensing of the home button. Meaning touch ID still works but the home button function does not

Apple really keeps on saying how eco-friendly they are but imagine having to replace a screen because the home button isn’t working. Thank is one of the dumbest shits that could possibly happen.
