The fact that Apple went through the extra effort to lock touch ID if you replace the home button to put their technicians under more load because they’re the only ones who can fix a broken home button does not make much sense. This could be fixed with a software update. If Apple fixed this, they would be supporting Right to Repair.

Home buttons are a nightmare. The amount of bad replacement screens is ridiculous making it worse. I’ve seen me try 3 replacement screens before the button would work again.

You did not have to sell her a new screen, a new cable behind the metal shield would have fixed the problem. You can easily use these cables from an old broken lcd.

One time I lost my iPhone 6 in my house on 2020 I did have my iPad but did not use find my iPhone so t then in 2022 I found it it was under my mattress it was a little craked so I charged it up and the home button was stuck I got a tooth pick and took Al the wall of dust in the home button it clicked but no response from the phoen for 2 months I decided to buy the iPhone 13 pro so I repaired this divide and turns out that the home button cable was intensely damaged thre was rips every Whre so after spending 50 bucks repairing it it looked brand new I asked te dude to meake the phone like new iPhone 11 he took he did it then I gave the phone to my brothers kid I told him it was. iPhone 13 he beloved it and stil using it
