That’s the scariest thing: Samsung is taking note. Just waiting to see how much more money apple is going to make from this.
I have the s22. I will not be forced to buy a tv-sized ultra phone because samsung starts to underpower it’s base variants. Which is why I didn’t consider the s21.

Regarding the chip shortage:

I work at Texas Instruments.
Our fab has been running 24/7 all through the pandemic. The bottleneck problem is, all wafers have to be put on a cargo ship, shipped to China, Taiwan, Philippines and Malaysia to be cut, then put into their final chip form… then sent back.
There is no facility in the US, that can do this final process, nor plans to do this, because it’s cheaper to outsource to other countries.

Now, if your country was just getting back to work from the pandemic, who do you think they are going to prioritize? Themselves or US (who had a president that downplayed Covid) ?

I say that only because right after we had gotten shipments caught up after Trumps “tariff war” debacle (which is a tax that WE, the consumers pay) then we got hit by the pandemic.

Again, we’re having to store excess wafers due to the supply chain being backed up. We have $millions of dollars worth of chips that are STILL waiting to be sent overseas!!!

Y’all want faster chip production?
Move final production stateside!!!

I mean if android manufacturers start doing this shit people are gonna be even less happy compared to Apple doing it, for example imagine if half of recently released phones released with SD888, i dont think many people would be happy with another year of phones with overheating issues…

Apple is well set in the processor chip game, they need not immediately produce newer generation chips, where as samsung and other android manufacturers must produce better chips just to keep up with a generation old iPhone se model, which is a shame. Now this, this mindless charade of do whatever Apple does, but underperform is seriously affecting purchase decisions.
This is why they have to come up with new form factors, offsetting their mediocre chips, to deliver the same slow experience- fold, flip, roll, !bend!, curve, etc.

Android has been giving their lower tier models the budget chipset for years, how is this different?
It is different in the fact that last years premium iphone chipset going into the lower tier iPhone models this year will still probably be faster than all android high end models.
And samsung users probably shouldn’t sook about apples choice of chipset in its models given the laughable Exynos/Snapdragon saga that has occurred for years lol.

Apple users love to brag about how powerful Apple chips are, but in the same breath admit that they don’t even get to utilize its full potential. That’s like having a lion in the cage

Apple users, besides video rendering what advantages goes the A chip have over android chips, mainly snapdragon chips?

1. Gaming is neck and neck
2. App opening is neck Ann neck
3. Muti apps is neck and neck
4. Ram management is dam near the same

What else is there? Yall bragging about something that’s on paper and not day to day use

Samsung’s gonna do it. But I think the Same thing with the S6 to S7 is gonna happen with it. The S6 didn’t have microSD. And people complained. Samsung brought it back on the S7 series. I think that TM Roh should be replaced with someone who is like minded to DJ Koh

I think it‘s much more easy for apple to pull this move because in most peoples mind the iPhones A-Chips were like 2 generations ahead all the time anyway. While the android side still needs to play catch up

It would be great if they reduce the prize of non pro phones further down by $100. Then it will be a great move. No one in real life will find a difference in the performance, A15 is already a beast.
