Yes apple wants money ofc it’s the whole point of making a business. But ppl have to understand if I’m paying for a pro phone id want the best out of the phone, It wouldn’t be fair for someone to buy a $500 iPhone and have the same chip processor as the pro. So it is also a smart idea to no have every single phone with the same A16 chip. I’m also not saying the a16 chip is necessarily a “pro” like feature but buying a phone with slightly better chip sure makes it feel like a pro. I’m sure the 16 and 15 chip will be all very similar.

I don’t think this is a bad thing especially considering how capable these (even 1 year old Axx) chips are. Older SoC wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me if I was considering these phones, but I don’t buy iPhones for other reasons. As for Samsung and other Android OEMs following this move with weaker solutions and trashy implementation, that’s a totally different topic.

The lower models will have last year cameras anyway so it is not a big deal. Regarding performance they can put literally A14 and remain competitive to the latest SD chips. I mean the chips that was meant to compete with SD888 and maybe even 865+ is be more powerful than SD8+G1. It is more efficient as well.

The sales of Pro model iPhones are definitely gonna skyrocket because processor will not be the only difference. 120Hz vs 60Hz, 48MP new camera sensors vs the same old one on the standard models, new pill + punch hole design on Pro models vs the same notch design on standard models (you know it’s Apple, people will freak out as if it’s a revolutionary design), and you know that they paid a lot of attention on lock screens with a complete redesign on iOS lock screens so they’re gonna use it’s benefits for the Always-On-Display on the Pro models. All that and they’re still gonna increase the price of non-pro model because f people. They want to make the non-pro model so unworthy compared to all the new stuff on the Pro models.

Typical apple thing of just caring about money. – I always say (ie I have been always saying) that Apple purposely makes life of its consumers hard (like removing headphone jack (so people (are forced to) buy their airpods) or charger or ‘ ‘giving less space in phone or no sd card slot’ (so that people (are forced to) buy their cloud storage(/service))) just so that they can make ((through) such cheap (way of making money)) more money. (Like in 2017,18,19ish i used to always say that a poor guy using cheap/midrange phone is getting more out of his device (like more space, etc) than these high end devices’/phones’ users.). – Even though this apple decision is not that obnoxious and seems like say ‘a fairly normal decision, i guess’ to me but I totally agree with you that how apple only cares about money (instead of giving better services and making life of its consumers/users better) (and will literally make life of its consumers/users hard (unnecessarily) just to earn (some) more money through this extremely cheap way.)

This ain’t gonna affect their sales, anyway apple’s chip with ios is already 2 generations ahead of the Android counterparts. And as Industry leader and brand value whatever they do all will follow them and as always all best sellings phone’s of the year is gonna be apple only inspite of higher price tag
