I don’t feel this. I find icons moving around on the top already distracting enough, this thing morphing and animating around constantly just seems too much.

It’s a damn shame the hole punch is Pro-exclusive, when (honestly), it’s mostly the software doing the grunt of the work. The hole punch is 3 years old now, it’s found on phones starting under at 399 new, it’s nothing that would justify skimping on the base models besides laziness and the _slight_ cost saving, which paired with the hefty prices anyway, really makes that counterargument of “costing too much” moot.

The only real reason is to upsell people on the Pro models, phones with features they do not need at a price that is more expensive. The new chip, the cool design, the fancy feature, all so they can get people to spend more. The Dynamic Island can be adjusted to work on iPhones even with the original notch we got from 2017 to 2020, from iPhones X to 12. We got rid of the notch, if you pay 1300-2000 dollars on a smartphone that doesn’t flip, doesn’t fold, has one screen, and looks like last year’s phone from the arse-end.

Apple is separating the 14s and the 14 Pros a LOT more this year. And in a way that I don’t feel is justified. Also, did the Canadian dollar drop in value again or do iPhones just feel more expensive this year? The iPhone 14 in CDN/CAN starts at 1099 with the 14 Plus at 1299, which is stupidly pricey in my opinion (Google Pixel is well priced here). I had to rewrite parts of this comment since the phones in USD are the same price, but in Canada, the 14 Pro STARTS at 1399, and it’s 1599 for the Pro Max. Is our inflation THAT BAD?

The notch looks better. Apple needs to give us the option to bring up the control center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
