Cars can’t really compare to a smartphone that costs way less. Cars for the majority of people are considered lifetime big purchases, similar to a house. Whereas smartphones could be expensive but your average consumer can afford way more smartphones than a car. It’s just that some people don’t upgrade because they don’t need that new update even if they are able to afford a new smartphone.

I have the iPhone 12 pro, and I’m getting the iPhone 13 pro. But I realize I’m an enthusiast. Plus, the great resale value of iPhones means I’ll get around $1000 for my iPhone 12 pro to put towards my new iPhone 13 pro. Try getting anywhere close to full resale value for any other phone a year later…

Like me, my best most feature in the phone is the camera, for photos, not for video. And I only like 2X zoom, not more than. I want good exposure and details. If I get that I’ll keep my phone for two years, like my Vivo X60 Pro.

You actually get it. It’s not about upgrading every year…but Apple will put out new models each year for those who ARE upgrading! I would also add in that iPhones have such a ridiculously high resale value, upgrading every year isn’t always a super expensive proposition!
