I am so happy you opened this video with the statement: Most people don’t update their phone every single year. I think it’s totally normal and they shouldn’t! I still use iphone 7. Why would I update now? Because my phone is dying… But! Put you hand on your heart: could you live with you iPhone 11 or 12 for some more years? Sure!

It really makes no sense to upgrade every year unless you are a Youtuber. For everyone else, three years for a device is pretty normal however, if you get a gem (iPhone 5s for its time) you tend to hang on to it for a bit longer.

I feel like the iPhone 13 Pro could be a nice upgrade to my iPhone X. An OLED display, that’s actually converting its refresh rate to the framerate of video content and which can get 1000 nits bright under the glaring sun and which actually gives me real HDR imagery? Holy moly that’s awesome! The camera features are nice to have, bout nothing I’d use constantly, still a nice bonus. The combo of a bigger battery, a more intelligent chip and – again – the display, that uses the intelligent refresh rate changing not only to match content (which by itself saves some battery life already) but also to use the battery more effectively? Honestly… this makes me keep faith in Apple, even tho the prices get more ridiculous every year. To me these features of the 120hz display are sorely missing on the regular iPhone 13.

I always love the quality of MKBHD videos. But these new transitions aren’t exactly MKBHD level. I think they look kinda cheap and really hope they don’t stay!
