I have been using mine (iPhone 13 in Midnight) since the 24th, the day it came out. I replaced a XR which was having overheating and shutdown problems. Here are my thoughts. First, the phone is smaller than the XR with the same 6.1″ screen. This is something I like. The display is better, no doubt, but it really isn’t anything I notice day to day. Smaller notch, but again, nothing I notice day to day. It is ever so slightly faster. I tried it alongside the XR and it’s generally not noticeable in day to day use. The battery is definitely better than my XR, but the XR is 3 years old, and going through this overheating problem. I feel it pretty similar to what the XR was when new. The camera bump, to me, is really ugly, much too big. I preferred the small camera on the XR. Also, I find the cameras confusing to use. I just use the camera as point and shoot, usually taking pictures of the grandkids, or something I want to remember. The camera is NOT a reason for me to upgrade. 5G is non-existent where I live, so that is also not a reason to upgrade. So, all in all, if the XR wasn’t giving me problems and shutting down periodically, there was no reason to upgrade. I think now, it’s a 3 to 5 year upgrade cycle.

The reason that Apple still sells their new phones every year, even though these miss a lot of features that other phone have already, are videos like that. I like MKBHD and his content (highest quality), but without a doubt he’s biased towards Apple products. If Samsung did the same, he would even not pick up their phones…

I think it is unfair to compare Car upgrades to Phone upgrades when Car brands don’t purposely throttle their Cars in order for consumers to buy new ones. This is an issue that has caused phone’s to have an avg 1-2 yr life span combined with phone batteries not lasting all that long and need to replaced if you are looking to hold onto a phone for a while.
