Just ordered the M1 Macbook Air, my iPad Air is fine but after trying to use it as my only device I realize it’s not what Apple intended. The UI is just not for you if you need to use multiple windows to browse, write and read articles. The iPad is great for note taking and doing one task at a time. I have a feeling I’d be using the Macbook more though as a student zooming my way through college…

For logging into MacBook, don’t forget if you have Apple Watch it auto logs in. Lack of Face ID ok.

I did a Speedometer test on my iPad Pro. Outperformed all my other devices at 156 runs per minute including m1 Mac Mini but the Mac Mini held its own and came not too far behind at 118. It’s insane. Intel MBP the higher end one I still have performed the worst in the same test at just 39.6!

The fact these two are even able to be compared, speaks volumes! Personally, I’ll stick with my 2020 12.9 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard.(LOVE IT).. Great Video!

The M1 changes everything. I would go for the iPad Pro with the magic keyboard before Mac Air with M1. Now, the choice is obvious

I have the 2020 IPad Pro 12.9, and the M1 Macbook Pro on the way. Because the iPad already has 6gb of ram I wanted to wait for my 16gb M1 Macbook to more differentiate the two devices. An 8gb macbook and a 6gb iPad did not give me a big enough difference to buy the Mac, but 16gb does.

I love my iPad pro. But you can’t argue it price wise and not get a m1 MacBook air or Pro. However, iPad does more for me due to the apps. And I still love my 2019 MacBook pro for other work and personal use.. holding off upgrading til next gen macbooks.

My ideal setup: M1 Mac Mini for home iPad on the go. The iPad does everything I need and more but full fledged desktop apps are a must every now and then.
