lol bro 4 years is a long time in tech
I know this would be blasphemous to the apple fanboys of the world but this thing loaded up with PCI storage and some 10GB ports this would make an awesome home lab. If ESXI and vCenter are as easy as they are imagine Apples attempt at a vertically integrated hypervisor.
I saw a comment on another video where a guy was saying that he was an audio engineer and that he was super excited for the new Mac Pro. And then immediately followed that up by saying that anyone who isn’t an audio engineer has no reason to buy it
I’m in full agreement, this thing is pointless and stupid for 99.5% of people. The previous Mac Pro was much less niche and of course modular and upgradable, which was the entire point of the damn thing (and also the reason I bought one). I’ll be keeping my 2019, raw performance be damned.
0:50 OH CHYT!!!! OG Miani incoming 😎🍸
Hey Luke, I don’t have any real need for it but I’d be willing to to rescue one from an Apple shelter, for say less than $1000, just so I can feel good about myself while doing my emails & watching your videos. 😎👍
and I am the guy who would have it displayed just how it is being shown 3:08… a little plant and a light 🤔 #Zen
Hmmm… maybe this machine is for these guys. Perhaps they need to update this server room: https://youtu.be/E99Et5mzxv0 @ ~6:43
Apple fanboys are cringe 😬
When I worked with Mac Pro towers in a studio we loaded them full of storage… and if the studio were still open today we would probably buy one and load it with storage. What I really want to know, and only time will tell, is if the SOC itself will ever be upgradeable. For a hot second it seemed there were rumors that the SOC would be sort of like a module that could be replaced down the line with a newer one but at least as far as what Apple has or hasn’t said that does not appear to be the case… but then again the SOC does look to be a big chunky block that could come out, so who knows.
yeah i can make use of it remove everything out of it and put a ryzen 9 7950x and a rtx 4090
the whole analogy about the 50 k pro and you calling least expensive newer one dumb at 1/5 the price is toooo funny
Has anyone ever actually tried to use it as a cheese grater? I’m curious. 🤔
If only they kept mpx. And had a dual Radeon pro w7900 beast of a card. Then the pro would make sense. It’s beyond me why that was an oversight.
I’m a Media Composer & Music Producer, and I can see the PCIE Slots being useful in a studio to connect sound cards. The I/O is definitely something Pro Studios would need. But it doesn’t justify the Price Gap between the Mac Studio and Mac Pro. Additionally, a large number of people from the Audio industry now have home studios which don’t usually need those PCIE Slots. And I do agree that the main appeal of the Mac Pro was it’s upgradability, without that you’re pretty much just paying an extra $3000 for the larger form factor
Look everyone needs to admit Apple was caught in a tough spot… When the Apple processors released they DIDNT KNOW if it would be a hit but they DID know that professionals weren’t going to be able to use it and lets not mention professional support so they came out with a amazing PRO device using x86. It was beauftiful and powerful but the M processors needed support the Apple processors had a chance of professional success but they couldn’t bank on professional development. So then Apple processors took off the developer world started taking notice and made things work on Apples SOC and then they made the stupid promise of moving everything to M processors. They should have made the studio the NEW PRO but they would have been raked across the coals no one would have given it a chance because remember last time they made a small form factor PRO device… yep the TRASHCAN… people would have never tried it so they were forced to call it a PROSUMER device… lets not even talk about the 3nm chips not being ready and they ran out of time to STALL so they released this over price beautiful CHEESE GRATER M processor Mac so the COMMUNITY WOULD STFU about the COMPLETION of their dumb promise… In reality they should have said the studio is the new pro or the Mac Pro isn’t being revamped till 3nm chips… it’s a tough situation.
never buy 1 chip cannot be upgraded contain ddr, gpu, storage, when 1 is failure you are doomed
We have to remember that part of the cost of this machine is because they’re making relatively few of them. It is for highly specialized applications, ones that I will certainly never need.
Well, That case is so nice, I suppose for a case that well built, fans, and power supply, maybe $3,000 is an okay price. If you could put the latest Xeon and motherboard inside it. What bugs me is you could have purchased an absolutely maxed-out Studio Ultra, 8TB of storage and all, for the same price.
This Mac Pro just makes sense if Apple is trying to kill it in favor of Mac Studio.
If it isn’t their goal they should sell it just a little expensive than the Mac Studio due its expendability. Not $3000 more.
In my opinion that’s it.
